I did 8km in a torrential downpour. Even with my rain jacket I was soaked. I was warm enough once I was going but drenched.

Need a hot shower now.

Yesterday I had a trail run with one of my running clubs... it was our annual anniversary run so it was a BIG group (I usually hate large groups on the trails, but it's only once a year!). Today... I went back to bed in the morning! Then to the office for afternoon/evening. Someone gave me an amazon...

I don't think there are as many in Vancouver as it's indicating in the article (are there? I don't really pay attention to road races). Sounds like it's a much bigger problem in the states than here. For trails, the demand is still outweighing the supply. Races are filled and sold out months in adva...

But dark and rain are really not much fun at all.

Treadmills and indoor tracks cost money. Running outside is free. (And much more fun!)

As for the cost of the shoes, rain doesn’t shorten the lifespan (that I know of), though it might make them more smelly. You’ll have to replace them every 4-700km regardless.

I'm curious: why did you think people would say not to do it?

I don't like running in the rain when it's cold and dark like we have for much of the winter in Vancouver. So I will opt for the treadmill indoors at the gym on those days. After having the death plague for the past two weeks, I finally feel better today... just a tiny bit of cough and sniffle left... so I finally went for a run! Just 5km on the seawall in the run. It was a lovely morning for it, sunny and sparkling and warm.

Nothing but rest for me. I've been sick for the past week and a half, and haven't run for that whole time (!). Stress and sickness... they make me want to hibernate!! Today I managed to walk the dog and go to the grocery store, and then came home for a nap!! :)

I had to clear out a bunch of tables which included some things like the search index, subscribed topics, random things like that. It will rebuild again over time.

you may notice some glitches on "topics marked read" on things like that... but otherwise I think we're back in business....? let me know if you notice anything weird.

not too tight, but I wouldn't want loose shoes on trails... I'd get too much dirt and other gunk in them.
