Re: FRIDAY!!!

I did just over 6 and a half km nice and steady at a 5:35 pace, then two 300m strides. I am finding they are helping me to get some spring back in my step! The roads weren't bad here- just wet mostly. I still stayed off the sidewalks though.

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I have the Graco "Soho Square" travel system . I like it because the carseat is rated to 35lbs, so it delays the time till I have to get another seat. Also, it's *fairly* light. They're all pretty cumbersome, but I can put the stroller in my trunk no problem. I had originally registered fo...

Re: Teacher missing after run

I doubt it at this point, that I saw him anyway. While the image of the man I saw still looks shockingly like him, I told the police that he had been wearing an orange jacket. This is unusual enough IMO that if he had owned an orange jacket they might be thinking that's what he had on. I am still ha...

Re: Teacher missing after run

I ran by the command centre yesterday while they were doing a press conference- that street is one of my regular routes. I felt almost guilty that I was running by as this was going on. It was on my mind the whole time- I kept thinking about where he might have headed.

Re: Teacher missing after run

Still nothing. :( I was trying to think about how the family might be reacting, and it made sense to me that if the public thinks he's killed himself, they're not as likely to keep looking for him. That could explain the deleted tweet and the withholding of info if in fact he is depressed or somethi...

Teacher missing after run

The cops aren't exactly a fountain of info either though. They're not saying why they've basically concentrated the search in the conservation area. I drove down Brock today towards the lake and didn't see anyone searching. I think they know more than they're telling us, not as much as the family th...

Re: Teacher missing after run

Yeah, a lot of stuff doesn't add up about this. It's not that unusual for him to have money in his desk if he plans field trips, etc (and most desks have a drawer with a lock). What IS unusual is that someone searched his desk and that he was being investigated. The deleted tweet is unusual but perh...

Teacher missing after run

Still nothing, but the helicopter is still out. It's just so strange that with all these people looking in a fairly small area, with no tree canopy, that he wouldn't have been found yet. If he did collapse, it's not like he would've been hiding. I think we will check behind the businesses on Brock S...

Re: Teacher missing after run

No news, and the command post is still set up. I keep running through scenarios in my head (none of them good): hit and run, hit and pick-up, suicide... I did see a quote in one of the news stories saying that it's not believed he was under stress, though. So hopefully the latter scenario can be rul...

Re: Teacher missing after run

What's weird to me is the comment from his wife that maybe he was having a midlife crisis or was running away from a problem at work. I wonder if there were any indications that he was depressed. If so, it's possible that he may not have intended to come home. :( They have searched pretty thoroughly...

Re: Teacher missing after run

They're concentrating their search in the nearby conservation area. I'm not sure that's the most logical place- the trails in there are a) not very long and b) broken up with staircases, boardwalk etc. Plus if he left at 6am, it was dark, and it would be icy in there. I also don't think the ravine p...

Re: Teacher missing after run

Pat is out on his bike right now looking. This has really gotten under both our skin. There is a pic of his family now on CBC.ca and it's just so sad... Pat said they aren't really thinking like runners when they're searching from what he saw last night. He is focusing on places he may have veered o...

Re: Teacher missing after run

So scary and sad. Pat is going out again today to check spots where a runner might be tempted to pee... A likely scenario might involve him going off the road/trail to pee and collapsing. There are quite a few ravine paths but they're all sheets of ice. I can't imagine they would be the first choice...

I'm in! $20 for charity, good route, I'm excited. I was, um, "optimistic" in my finish time prediction so that I would be in the first corral though.

Re: Teacher missing after run

This is RIGHT by where I live, and I saw someone fitting his description while I was running yesterday morning. I called the police last night and they came by at 11:30 (woke me up but that's ok) to show a pic, and it definitely looked like him. I'm not thinking it was him now though, as his wife to...

Re: Snowshoeing Sunday

7km at a ridiculously slow pace with JB... But hey it was more of an obstacle course run! The footing was insanely treacherous. The company was great though, and it's easier to chat when the longest you're running without stopping or walking is 300m!!

Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I'm very, very happy today and just had to share!! First of all, since the 12 week growth spurt ended (it was tough but not as bad as the 6 week one- 3 days of 2 hour feeds round the clock instead of 5), feedings take 10-15 minutes! Like, SUDDENLY! They were taking 20-30 minutes before. Second of al...

Re: What did you do Wednesday?

25 mins easy on the TM, and core work. I actually got a pretty solid 5 hour block of sleep last night, woohoo! Preceded by and followed by about an hour and a half. Not bad... Esp since the previous 2 nights were 90 min blocks, so I had taken 2 days off (couch days!), so it felt good to have energy ...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Well I've run 3 days in a row to start 2014, but they haven't been great runs- I'm soooooo tired! I was dragging my ass along today, big time. At first I couldn't really see why I was so tired- he's been sleeping a bit longer lately, and so I should be feeling better, right? However, after thinking ...

Re: Thursday Feels Like Monday

It's *way* too cold out for me today, but there's a TM at the house we're looking after for a couple of weeks. Thank God!! I did a 25 minute run followed by an AB WORKOUT! Yup, started in on the New Year's resolution- if I can stick with it for a month I'm hoping a habit will form. I used to love st...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Good job on the 3 back to back runs! I'm fairly relaxed... Most people thought it was crazy that I hadn't weighed myself yet. I loaned my scale to a good friend years ago and she's been bugging me to take it back. :) I think my regime will be something like buy wine once a week (one bottle!), and tr...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

OK, so I finally broke down and weighed myself for the first time post-baby. I'm all right with it- 9 pounds to go to get back down to my normal weight. And- all you women will get this reasoning, lol- it was not first thing in the morning, my boobs are at least a pound each heavier, and it's been l...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Wow, good for you!! I am going to sign up for sporting life soon- that'll get me motivated. I ran today- no ITB issues but wow that was the LONGEST 5km ever!! The roads aren't great here (I'm north of the city for 2 weeks and there is a lot of snow). My iPhone stopped my timer unexpectedly so ...
