Re: 3 years is enough. My Open letter to Goodlife/Mississaug

There are a few of the larger US cities that allow Saturday marathons that run through downtown streets. Baltimore and Salt Lake City are two big ones I can think of. Indy has a Saturday race in one of their suburbs (although it is on the edge of the city and when I ran it and traffic disruption was...

Re: Horror Hill - October 26/13

Good luck this weekend. I am recovering from 15 marathon / ultra finishes (+ 2 DNFS that were both beyond a marahton) this year. As much as I love this race, both Christa and myself need to heal our bodies. We will be teaching the 1/2 marathon clinic at the Kingsway running room (Toronto) and I prob...

Re: Horror Hill - October 26/13

Pat puts on a great race. Looks like Christa and I will be there again this year. Its a dirt trail, that gets muddy when it rains so if its dry its a nice course.

Re: Beast of Burden question

Jan 18th is the Winter one. If past years are an inidication, they won't 100% confirm the summer date and open the registeration until after the Winter event has taken place. They usually hold the Summer event on the same weekend every year based on what they have done in the past.

Re: Ooops ... Marathon win a surprise

Given all that was going on Sunday morning, the RD had to make a quick decision. I wonder if he said she could continue, thinking that she would fade in the 2nd part of the race and it would be a non-issue. It's also possible he wasn't told she was in the lead when contacted by the marshall. I haven...

Re: Creemore Vertical Challenge

Great race on Saturday Pierre. I liked the heat this year, better than the muddy rainy weather last year. Great pizza, beer and river massage. I almost took a tumble on the rope this year, but somehow managed to hold on before I landed on my back in the mud. I wont be out this weekend at Limberlost ...

Glad to hear your knee is holding up.

I started my taper after Sulphur (not by choice!) for Niagara. We will see you out there.

Re: Sulphur Spring Friends

My wife and I will see you at some point. I am not sure how far I will go or if I can start. My knee finally decided it had enough last Sunday in Vermont. Christa is running the 50 miler and I will be happy to just be able to start. I will see how long it lasts. With some TLC this week, no running a...

Re: Pick Your Poison by Chainsaw Baby!

Sylvie, my take on why there were so many DNF's (I am not sure this is more than normal, but some races just dont show who DNF'd) is that its a tough course, the first trail race of the year. There was snow on the ski hills still, a bit of mud but I dont think that slowed us down much. It did take a...

Re: Pick Your Poison by Chainsaw Baby!

Remember the saying, I think it goes something like this:

A finish trumps a DNF which trumps a DNS.

Congrats on a great finish and good talking to you on Saturday.

Re: Turning Around the Bay into an Ultra event

Thanks all.

Doonst, never thought about doing a loop of Sulphur. Maybe next year.

Sylvie, you will love night running. Its my favorite.

Jes, no one who can finish ATB is a wimp. I certainly could not have done this even a year ago!

Re: 2013 Around The Bay

I guess when a race is popular enough to sell out a few months in advance has issues, they don't worry about their comments pissing off the average runner.

Its not the first race I have seen a RD that "tries" to turn a negative event into something positive and fails.

Turning Around the Bay into an Ultra event

My Around the Bay story for 2013 starts at about 1 AM Sunday morning. Dressed in my running gear, chip on my shoe and Bib pinned to my leg I met a small group of mostly Ultra-running friends at Parklawn and Lakeshore in Etobicoke and started a running journey to Hamilton. The goal was to get into Ha...

Re: 2013 Around The Bay

Actually I just looked on my laptop now and its blue, but the picture with that slogan might not be the race shirt.... He might have bought something else with that logo....

Lucky I am not a news reporter. I might have misinformation.

Looks like "Older than Boston" has been retired. I saw a shirt on a friends Facebook and it now says " Hammer the Roads Around the Bay"
