Now, have your brain and your legs come to an agreement? How are they feeling today? They still aren't talking to each other. My legs are just a bit sore still so I'm hoping that wears off before tonight's run. You're running tonight??? Have you heard of "rest days"? Was it you who asked me "have y...

Way to go, Ann!!! That was a tough race to run, for sure! Congrats on toughing out! I wouldn't be surprised if the humidity is what caused your breathing problems. I have been training in the heat and humidity in the past 2 years, and let me tell you, I was breathing hard out on the spit. It was lik...

Way to go Kristi!! Congrats on your PB!!! That's an amazing improvement!! Think about it, that was a race in the dark, on really nasty surface and muggy humid weather. Now, if we had Sunday night's weather on Saturday, you would have come in under 3:00!! That's smokin'!!! Excellent!! Now, have your ...

It was great to meet you Kinga! You certainly got me through the last 5k (even if I couldn't keep up!). Great job! For those of you yet to meet her, Kinga is a lot of fun! Glad to have helped you, Kristi! You were going strong, too!! I still had some left in the tank, I usually run negative splits....

I just saw accidentally the CBC piece on him. I've heard of Ray Zahab from last year's Badwater Ultramarathon where he had to drop out. He was one of 3 Canadians doing the 217 km race in Death Valley. He's an amazing guy, went from smoking a pack a day in 2000 to finishing and winning some serious u...

Sounds like an interesting race. Good job! So do the pace fairies have their time printed on their wings? :D  The pace fairies had their time printed on their back on a bib. Around the 23km mark the 3:00 pace fairy passed me. When I asked him if he was on pace he said no, because he took a wro...

Sounds like a fun race - I imagine it was quite challenging running in the late day heat and humidity. It sounds like this will grow into quite a race once they get the kinks worked out. I think the race has some potential. Small detail, it's the second time (in over 15 long distance races) that I ...

Hey QuickChick, I'm sure we'll meet at one of the fall races (Scotia, Toronto, Angus Glen). I sure won't be wearing a trail and horns then. I probably could have finished under 3:00, but with all the wind resistance and the tail dangling, I came in at 3:03. I know what you mean about Cherry Be...

Running with bib # 666 was a special one, I won't frame it, but it will stand out. I posted a brief race review at http://www.runningmania.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9814 . I couldn't miss such an occasion to dress up. I wore red devil horns and a tail that kept dangling a fair bit. I promise to post...

Bib #666 - Midsummer Night's 30k - Toronto
Well, that was a hell of a run! Could you feel the heat and steam? I started out in the middle of the pack somewhere around the 2:45 and 3:00 pace fairies. I was running a bit faster than my usual pace, I guess I must have got sucked in by the crowd. I couldn't hold that pace, though, so I settled i...

I love ayran. I had it first when I was travelling in Turkey, then I found it in middle-eastern shops in Toronto. It very good for you, it's refreshing and nutritious. It's got lime/lemon in it and a bit of salt that your body really needs on a sweaty day. I fully agree that it's an aquired taste. N...
