Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I have a Bumbleride Indie. It folds nicely, but doesn't fit well in a small vehicle (I can get it in my mom's Sunfire, but just). It's my everything stroller, and great for running.

Re: Bike Racks?

This post is timely -- I have an SUV, and we have a roof rack, but I find it very difficult to get my bike on the roof rack by myself given the height of the vehicle to begin with. Does anyone know if there is another option (other than hitch), for the back of an SUV. I want it to be sturdy (of cou...

I just wanted to come back and say 'sorry' for being that person who asks for advice but then has an excuse for why everyone's great tips won't worry. Venting over! Don't be sorry! Parenting is such a giant experiment, you never know what will and will not work :) I just like being able to chat wit...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I'll be joining the running Momma's in the spring. I'm currently not running through my pregnancy but I'm trying to stay active. I'm currently looking at strollers and from what I can tell from past threads the BOB Revolution SE seems to be a popular choice. I am considering only buying the one str...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I'm here and running! Or at least, trying to. My early bird has been getting up extra early lately, so I'm having a hard time fitting in my runs. I usually get up early to run before anyone is awake, but if she wakes up before I go, I feel really bad leaving her, because then it means DH has to get...

Goals for 2013? -Positive birth experience and happy, healthy baby in March -Be engaged and loving with my boys, eke out some one-on-one time with each (including Dan!) -Run 5K comfortably by the end of the year (resolution run goal?), barring illness, injury, etc. I hope the holidays were good to ...

Re: New marathon: Banff

This would be a great excuse to visit the in-laws. I'm not sure I'd survive a marathon in the mountains though. I'd have to train in Gatineau Park every day. The course itself looks to be more rolling with no major climbs, with a net downhill as Turd has eluded too. For you and which was the case f...

Re: Christmas Baking 2012

Frozen butter tarts are better than regular butter tarts. I also prefer the PB marshmallow squares frozen. I have all the ingredients for reverse Nanaimo bars, but no energy to make them, even though the recipe looks super easy. Maybe I will do them Sunday. Hey, your acting like you are 26wks pregn...

This looks great for a future year :)

Houston to Calgary can be way cheaper than $1000 US. I flew Edmonton to Houston with a stop in Calgary for under $400, with a seat sale. It was Scare Canada, though.

Shortbread done, chocolate roll done. My made-up trifle recipe actually turned out quite tasty. Now I decide between that one or the PB one (which I won't eat) for Christmas eve.

I don't know about out east, but here Bird's Custard Powder is in the baking aisle, or with the instant puddings. I have got it at Save On and Safeway. I can't 100% say Superstore. I always have some on hand, since we use it to make the trifle :) Bird's is in the baking aisle out east too. It is a ...

I made a PB Nanaimo bar one year that was to die for. I have packed all my recipe books, but I could try and find it online.

Re: Christmas Baking 2012

I bought the Canadian Living holiday special yesterday - they had a ton of bars where the recipe is basically this: -make crust (crumbs and butter) -sprinkle stuff (choc chips, nuts, other options) over crust -pour can of sweetened condensed milk over it all -bake. They all look delicious and soooo ...

I think John is at an age where he would like to help cut out and decorate sugar cookies. Other than that, I have no idea what I should make.

I don't even know if I am going to do a trifle this year, since I can't eat it.

Re: What can you tell me about minimalist shoes?

I made the switch from Asics Keyanos to Newtons. I now ADORE my Newtons. My only advice for transitioning is start slow (which I am sure the physio has also recommended). I had a lot of calf pain as my legs adjusted to the different shoe (I hit more mid-foot than heel with the Newtons). Once my musc...

I have had to stop running, but I am pretty sure my condition doesn't count as an "injury". I was making huge progressions in my running with speed/distance up until July when I discovered I am pregnant. I tried to keep up with my running, but had brutal, horrible nausea for all of August ...
