Re: Feeling blah when running - is there a better way?

Usually, when I notice that I have to force myself out the door for a run, it means something's up with my body. It's natural not to want to do something that hurts and/or makes you feel exhausted, day after day. Maybe try run/walking for a while, and forget about time/pace/distance. Take the pressu...

Re: What is this foot injury called and how can I fix it?

First, welcome to Running Mania! I also cannot diagnose what ails you, but I can tell you I've had a few tendon issues in my foot (and other places, too). I know that tendons often take a long time to heal (they often lack a good blood supply), and are prone to relapses, even after months and years....

Re: Sweet Sixteen Sunday

Did my 24 minutes of run/walk according to schedule. Such a beautiful day today: sunny, still, +2 degrees, and the optimistic birds were singing. My knee felt great, too. It was sweet indeed!

Re: Windy Wednesday

Just cross-training with a snow shovel for me today. We got 60 cm of snow as of this morning (took the two of us an hour to clear the driveway), and they are predicting up to 25cm more by tomorrow morning. It was a good workout, but I'm ready for spring now.

Re: Pi Day Tuesday

I did my run this morning, finishing just as the first few, innocent-looking snowflakes came drifting down. Up to 60 cm expected here with this blizzard! Time for cross-training with a snow shovel.

Re: Earmuff Monday

Brrr! It's been earmuff weather around here the last few days. AI took a rest day today as The Knee was feeling cranky. Feels better now, so I'll get my run in early tomorrow afternoon, before the blizzard of the winter arrives (60+ cm of snow and winds gusting up to 100 kph)!

Re: Size of your running shoes

I've got a wide wedge shaped foot so I have to try on literally every pair of shoes I buy to see if they'll work. There seems to be no rhyme or reason with respect to what size I'll need in any type of shoe, except that it usually ranges between 9 and 10.5 and regular width to EE, LOL. I have a wed...

If I had my way, I would be back to running by now. Since I didn't, I did a 4.5k walk in slush-over-ice yucky conditions.

It rather cool here, too (-17 C, WC -28). I shall have to bundle up well to go for my walk. I'm finding I need a different layering system for clothing for my long winter walks vs winter runs. Have a good weekend, all you Maniacs!

Upper body and core workout--snow removal and chopping ice off the whole driveway. We now have a driveway instead of an ice rink in front of our house.

Re: Peroneal tendon

Welcome back, although I'm sorry about the circumstances that brought you back here. I sprained that tendon a couple of years back, and even the sprain took months to recover, and still will give me grief every once in a while. I know it's not the same as a rupture, but I just wanted to throw in my ...

I'm still not running, but I did a nice one-hour walk in the park, came home and shovelled some snow, then did stretching and core. We saw a tiny peak of hazy sun today!

I was out for my little 3K, 4-and-1 jaunt around the neighbourhood. Baby steps. 2 degrees above 0 this morning at oh-dark-thirty -- so different from -5 or so on Monday! Great to see you back here again, BaldGuy! I'm still off running while my knee mends. I think it is starting to feel better, but ...
