A good race for me, that I will recommend to others include: Reasonable priced entry fee. (Pre-registered runners receive something. Tshirts are okay, but if it can be something unique, like a fuel belt, race bag, socks, hat etc that is even better) Well marked route. As little traffic as possible. ...

This staged marathon reminds me of the Mommy Marathon that was last run in 2005 (i think) in Toronto. The mommy marathon was a 5km or a 10km race. I always think organizations that use the term marathon in their marketing of a short distance race are slapping all 1/2 and full marathoners in the face...

Running Room has probably been a major reason many people, including myself, decided to take up or continue running and overall I think they benefit Canadian running. I have taught one clinic, and considered it more of a volunteer postion. I have also been a pace bunny at a couple of Running Room sp...

The MarathonManiacs are a good group of people, started in Seattle area. Now the 10 star level is 52 marathons in a year, but you can become a 1 star member by running only 2 or 3 (within a short period of time). There are 10 levels, so there a various ways to join the group. I am right in the middl...

Are we crazy for signing up a year in advance and parting with our money so early? Part of me feels that I am being taken by the Disney Corporation, but I guess with almost 13,000 finishers in the marathon alone, its a classic case of supply and demand. With all the positive feedback I have heard fr...

Just because 14 year olds do gymnastics, doesn't mean its right and should automatically mean that a 14 year old can do any sport. (The small town high school I attended in the 80's cancelled the football program in the 1970's due to the number of adults in the community that suffered chronic injuri...

Hamilton was a touch course. It capped off my marathon year. Still have a 1/2 in December, but then I think that will be it until next year. Seems like this thread has some runners that go for quantity on here. If anyone is looking at some double marathons in 2008 and from the Toronto area, let me k...
