I ran it in 2001 and set a PB one month after setting a PB in Detroit, which is pancake-flat. So yes, there are some rolling hills, but overall it's still a fast course. Zach Warren also broke the joggling marathon world record on it twice. Have you spoken with the race director about getting in as ...

I agree with what the others said. If you want to work on your basic speed, you can also occasionally (and carefully) do something like 4x400 at 95% effort with a full recovery in between. It won't necessarily help your 5K time, but it will give you a better finishing kick. Plus, running fast is fun.

With all due respect, Milton, Oakville, Mississauga, Terra Cotta, Bruce Trail, Hockley Valley, etc. are NOT in Toronto. I've cycled Brimley and I think it's a pretty darned tough and long hill. It's a scary descent, too - with a nasty speed bump at the bottom that can toss you if you're not ...

I got out for a run with a friend. New shoes=blistered heel. *sigh* I just read on ctv news about 5 Ottawa cyclists being hit and gravely injured. Are all our people accounted for today? how horrible: http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20090719/cyclists_minivan_090719/20090719?hub=...

Re: Blackfoot results?
Has anyone seen anything yet? I googled, but to no avail. One of my young prodigy soldiers, Mark McRae, was running this, and I haven't heard from him since Thursday. PS-Watch out Joggler....this kid is QUICK, and juggles like a madman. :D I'm still trying to convince him to go after you. :...

Well, I have... issues with being part of a race that closes down street roads. que pasa? (just curious, I've never heard of a runner having issues with road closures before, only drivers) In Toronto, runners regularly shut down Yonge Street, which is where most of our subway stations are. Buses st...

Ummm...who won the free entries to Scotiabank :D BJH would be one, hence my comment above. She's got the entry, she's gotta do it, and if she's getting in for free, she really should do the whole thing, don't you think? :D BTW, James' Vibrams are cool. Gotta get some of those. I agree. Go the full ...

What a race. We twisted and turned and ate hot dogs and cookies and got lululemon gear and had lots of fun. Thanks Dave and Lisa.

Re: Muskoka 70.3
... The half should be fun -- if I can survive the swim. If you can do the bike part it will be fun. It is 94 km rolling hills course - it can be tough. Swimming and running is easy. I am also in. Cool. Well, at least I can't drown on a bike. I'm OK at long, hilly bike rides -- just not all that fa...

Im in! Anyone else?
The sprint distance was over too quickly, so I'm movin' on up. The half should be fun -- if I can survive the swim.
