Re: Raid the North Extreme here we come

Wow, Kevin! Very cool! Ever since they stopped running (and televising) Eco Challenge I thought that Adventure Racing had kind of dwindled in popularity. Glad to hear it's still alive and well! Yeah, unfortunately it isn't a sport that is easy to televise due to the remoteness of most of the longer...

Re: Raid the North Extreme here we come

This is so cool!!! Will you keep a log in the log section of RM. I think a lot of people would enjoy following your journey, and your team's on this epic journey. I think you're my new RM Hero :D  I would like to keep a log but not sure I would be good at keeping it updated... although I do o...

Re: Raid the North Extreme here we come

Eff'ing awesome. What an amazing goal, really looking forward to following along for the next 19 weeks. 100 miles at Suphur will be tough with a 20lb pack ;) - maybe you can ask the RD if you can peddle for a couple of the laps. Indiana sounds like a good idea, you really want to get out and see ho...

Re: Friday

In to work a bit early to get ready for the course I am on today. Although, I miscalculated because I am in here way early. A really warm morning at +10C (it is going to be colder going home this afternoon). 50min on the bike to work. Bike appears to be working okay. Hit a couple of doozy potholes. ...

Re: Feeling better Thursday!

Went to bed quite late last night so got up a bit later for my run. Working from home so it was a run around the 'hood which is a series of long, flat, and straight country roads. Legs felt really good and could have gone for a bit longer. Saw 'm' while out on the run and she gave me grief for 'dogg...

Got my bike serviced yesterday after it sitting since January... So nice to not to have to use the car at all today. Hopefully it is put away for the next 9-10 months (other than dr appts, etc). Got to work before the freezing rain started and hopefully it will clear up before I head home. The Traff...

A bit tired this morning from getting to bed late. A nice run once the sun came up. 57min. Pack felt light but was full so I guess that is a good sign. Bring on the warm weather... Hopefully pick my bike up this evening and start biking again tomorrow. 19 floors of stairs - hit everyone on the way u...

Re: Wake up! Time Change! (Sunday Daily Thread)

Up at 4:45 and out for a run. Just under 2:30 on the roads. When I got up and checked outside it was dark but no precipitation. By the time I got ready it was snowing. Aghh! Oh well, it stopped eventually. Legs and body felt good throughout. Drank 1/2L of water and 1/2L mixed with 6 scoops of Perpet...

Legs feel pretty good this morning (not runnable but good). Just as well as the sidewalks are still pretty nasty / slippery. 40min walk to work with pack. Tomorrow I will add more weight to the pack (I picked up a few extra Yellow Pages phone books to shove in the pack... Have a great day everyone!

See you are Sulphur, hopefully we can tag up for a run or two before then. Yes, see you then - can't wait! Some trail runs would be great. Reluctantly I may need to invest in some MicroSpikes after this snow we just received or I may never get out of my garage for a run... :-) I had screws in my sh...

Re: WTF Monday!!

Calves are still pretty tender from sloshing though the snow / ice on Saturday so decided to do a brisk walk instead of a run. Loaded up the pack and walked to work. Sidewalks were a mess with ice and not sure I would have been able to run anyways. Almost went down twice as it was. Almost had a 'are...

Just curious on the first loop, if you or SnowPlowStrider even considered running in snowshows, to at least break the path, or would it have made any difference ??  Strider actually did run in snow shoes. I think there were a couple of other people behind us who also ran in snowshoes...

Strider, good synopsis of the trail and conditions. Thanks for breaking trail for the first lap. You were like the Pied Piper on that lap... I lost balance a couple of times and stepped off the trail and was over my knee in snow. Were you in microspikes on the other 7 laps? Were they any help? Don't...

There was talk of extending the cutoff by an hour otherwise there would be no 50k finishers. If that doesn't speak to the difficulty of the conditions... That was bru-tal...Yeah, he extended it so you could head out for a lap as long as it was before 4:40pm... two of us left with 5 or 10 min to spa...
