Re: Boston Marathon who is running 2011?

Runningwild is #14941.
I'm #346.
They used to start the non-elites at 1,000, but I guess they changed it this year. This is definitely my lowest-ever Boston bib number!

Bairu says he wants to run a flat course in the fall of 2011. Not sure which one.

Re: Geb announces his retirement

Hope this is not the way he goes out. What is the word on Simon Bairu? I haven't seen anything to explain why dropped out. Simon ran into some serious fuelling issues and passed out just past the 22-mile mark (six miles further than Haile :)): http://runningmagazine.ca/2010/11/sections/news/exclusi...

Re: Beer Mile

Love this quote from the wikipedia beer mile entry: "Much like the four-minute barrier in the mile-race, the five-minute barrier tempts beer-milers world wide." That means running a four-minute mile *and* downing 4 beers in 15 seconds each! Record-holder Jim Finlayson of Victoria averaged...

Re: Nice Guys (and Girls) Finish Last: Globe opinion piece

The part I find hilarious in all this is the idea that "mass participation" somehow forces the Elites to slow down. Does the fact that legions of overweight, beer-guzzling middle age(+) men play men's league hockey prevent Canada from putting a world class hockey team on the ice? Frankly ...

Re: two random questions

Europe has the best selection of runderwear for men. I have some from Marks & Spencer also some from Germany. All have very thin and lightweight waistbands and are about 100 times more durable than anything for sale in North America.

Re: Michal's Boston Marathon Race Report

OK, so we'll play 20 questions then. :P Was this your first Boston? It was my fourth Boston. I ran it as my second marathon in 2000, PB'd in 2002 and joggled it in 2006. If no, was it as awesome this time around? Did you PB the course? I really enjoyed it this time around. The first time I bonked b...

Re: Niagara Parkway Winter Running?

They don't clear it, but there's been very little snow this year. I ran the Parkway trail a couple of weeks ago and it was perfect. That might change over the next couple of weeks, though.
