Leslie, thanks for the honest response! I think I'll stick to my Du's, and I won't have to worry about running in wet bottoms! (And all the associated "issues") Actually, it's really just the cycling in wet bottoms that causes issues  . And the issues really only occur at the longer distances...

42 minute swim today. 15 minute warm up then 10x100m intervals, then cool down. This was my first time in the water since mid July, so it took a little bit to get settled in. I tried out a new pool today, Emmerson. The lockers were a bit small in the change room. Otherwise, it was apretty good. It i...

Hee hee, I love dirty books.

Yeah, I figured out that Paula Radcliffe's WR marathon pace is TWICE AS FAST as my long run pace.

I usually predict my race times by doubling a world class men's time and adding a little bit.

Those people go wicked fast.

I road my bike in this morning (50 minutes HR zone 3/4). Same thing this evening. The weather was a lot cooler this morning and they have closed the fence on the Martin Goodman trail in preparation for the CNE (there is an alternate route). Summer is nearing the end. :? Yesterday I was soooo tired. ...

Here is an article regarding a link between obesity and joint replacements. I would want to know how much of the increase is due to increased willingness to operate on these patients, but it does provide some food for thought. Toronto Star Aug. 17, 2005. 09:23 AM Obesity behind spike in joint replac...

I can give you a few comments on Disney, I ran it in 2002. It is a BIG race, very popular among first timers and walkers. The organization is very good, as one would expect from Disney. Big pre race expo, lots of porta-potties, although there was still a ceratin amount of runnign into the bushes on ...

I wear tri shorts. They have a lightweight chamois that adds protection for the bike, but dries quickly after the swim. As with any cycling short, nothing goes on underneath. How long is your race? For a short distance, I could see putting up with the spandex shorts. For longer stuff, you might want...

Today is a scheduled rest day, plus I'm entertaining Ironfolks tonight. :)

Anyone ever used those 1-2 foot red posts on your bike to keep the cars out of your zone? Incidentally, I'm not it has ever been explained to me the reasoning behind cyclists shaving their legs..... The reason is road rash. If a really hairy guy wipes out on the bike, the resulting abrasions can be difficult to clean because of the hair. On shaved legs, the cleaning is easier and the he...

My family in general is pretty active, especially for suburbanites. Not runners, but my 70ish parents ride their bikes quite a bit and my dad walks ~10km a day. I've been known to show up for Sunday dinner in my running gear (was 17km, now only 10km). They glow with pride and think it only right and...

I have some Nike running socks and some single layer Wright socks for the summer. I use the double layer ones in the spring and fall and I use my Hot Chillys ski socks when it gets really cold. They are thin, so fit in my runners properly, but are really toasty warm. :)

Which one do you want more? The extra fitness associated with the longer runs will help towards your speed goal. Or you can postpone that goal and run the marathon for the experience. I found setting shorter race time goals easier once I had the longer distance stuff off my "to do" list. But I also ...
