I know. For $1000 I could have hired her to pace me to a pb in the half.

With her competitive nature I bet she would have spanked you!

It would have cost me $1,200!

Re: Run 4 R Kids: January 5, 2013

UPDATE on what NOT to expect this year 1) funding for the race is low, so there will be no medals and bring your own food, but there will still be a shirt and chip timing 2) the 10 km race has been cut 3) you can get a refund if you request one by Dec 10th 4) leave plenty of time to find the venue ...

Slipping & Sliding at the Snowflake

I've posted about this series before. The no frills approach (no swag, no timing chip), and the low ($15) fee is a great way to keep fit in the winter. This is the 2nd of 4 events, a 5 km starting from Couchiching Park in Orillia, and it's getting more popular each year. When I left the house at 8:4...

Re: Santa Claus Sunday

Had planned to run the 1st race of the 2012-13 Snowflake Series, however we got hit by a lot of snow Friday night & Saturday, so the roads are very icy so I bailed. On Wednesday I ran outside in shorts, it was 15 degrees, now winter is here.

Crappy, but that's what non-refundable.

Yes, I am sure you expected the race to be held when you signed up. Not refunding the $$ is inexcuseable and a blatant rip off IMO.

Re: NY Marathon cancelled

The Post is a rag that uses sensationalist headlines, and that column is just one idiot's opinion. The writer has his panties in a knot because she blamed the media for some of the problems. As if the media never does anything wrong.
The column is a waste of paper.

Re: NY Marathon cancelled

Yep....didn't think a refund was possible, they have to recoup the money they spent on merchandise and all that. The least they can do is at least allow everyone that entered this year to pay half next year Altogether, for the participants, it has been a difficult situation! I agree that the politi...

Re: Injury Poll - since January 1, 2012

I've had three different injuries (in three separate poll categories) this year. While this poll undoubtedly has inherent selection biases and you can also injure yourself doing all sorts of other activities, the injury rate expressed here is somewhat depressing. Most of us would claim that running...
