Re: Skip work Friday...Bruce Trail Run..Company wanted
I would have joined you last Friday when I was off. Last week I drove out to Milton and spent most of the day running the Bruce and the side trails around Speyside. I like to call it "Trail Therapy with Dr Bruce". Now I can take a sick day and say that I have an appointment with Dr Bruce a...

Re: Night run at Sulphur, Friday May 18th
Is there a reason for starting that late? I guess I could just show up at 9:30-ish and do an early loop... No reason, other than I'm working till 10:00 in the evening and then get home, grab my running gear and go. Plan is to run 2 big loops (40k) and head home when the sun comes up. You're welcome...

Night run at Sulphur, Friday May 18th
Hello everyone, I hope you're enjoying the summer-like weather outside. We're doing another night run at Sulphur this Friday, May 18th at midnight. The format is similar, but instead of short loops we are doing 2 big loops and maybe 1-2 short loops: - Refuel from your trunk: bring your own junk - St...

Re: Seaton Trail - Advertised as 52km - But was it?
Congrats on your 52k-ish race! Their 50-ish distance is pretty fluid, changes each year, so it's always a PB! ;) Well done! Sad to hear that they had a poor turnout. Truth is, with Sulphur only 2 weeks away, a lot of people chose Sulphur, so despite the nicer weather and more daylight, Seaton ...

Re: Spirit's Day at the Fair
Congrats on your race, Spirit and welcome to Pinky Blisterville!! Very common problem for ultrarunners, because the pinky folds under the foot and blisters up like a ^$%@#^&%$, especially at trail events where you run on technical terrain. I have tried various types of taping, shielding to keep ...

Re: Sulphur Springs Trail Run
I got the 'weekly bog report' from a running buddy who went out on Saturday for a 1.5 loop on the course. ... the Bog is still the same old bog, not sure if they could actually get it debogged before the race. The good news is that it was muddy but not too much water so I veered left again and very ...

Re: Seaton Trail
Seaton is much tougher the PYP in my opinion not that PYP is a cake walk either. Crap, done Seaton twice but my Ultra memory fades me! The tougher the course the more likely I am to forget. You're in denial, Ron! Did you perchance ran it last year and got slammed by the weather gods like some of us...

Re: Seaton Trail
I was planning on running the 50 miler this year, but work got in the way, plus, my training is not where it should be. There is always next year... Have fun everyone! Seaton is a tough course and a well-run event. Let's hope the weather stays nice and the trail don't get a foot of rain water like l...

Re: Night run at Sulphur, Fri. May 4
How is/are the trail(s)? Oops, I completely forgot to report back. Ok, so we only ran the 'lollipop loop' (S/F parking lot to where you go in from Martin Rd on Headwaters Trail towards the farmer's field then back to Martin Rd and the parking lot). A friend of ours who came out around 5:00 went and...

Re: Pacer for Sulphur
You guys made me nearly spill coffee on my laptop.  I will say it's a tough choice, strider. I mean, the latter part of your 100 miler can go two ways. In the first scenario, if you ran well and didn't kill yourself on the first few loops or fried yourself in the sun, then you might still...

Re: Pacer for Sulphur
You can definitely go sub 22 ,just don't get caught in the first couple laps of madness. Its always hard to not get caught up running with the 50 milers and its an easy coarse to run fast.By the time you realize how hard you were pushing it is usually too late. Pick your comfortable pace and just le...

It can be a lot of fun, pain, fear, stress, but most of all, a lot of JOY BEING ON THE TRAILS DOING WHAT YOU LOVE SO MUCH: RUNNING.

Re: Pacer for Sulphur
Sulphur is a well marked course and aside from half a dozen technical spots, it's safe to run at night. And you don't have to worry about bears. The only wildlife you'll see is raccoons, deer and tired runners. Another thing to consider if you can't find a good pacer, is tagging along other runners ...

Re: Night run at Sulphur, Fri. May 4
I'm hoping to come out tonight for the run. I've been fighting a chest cold this week, so if my lungs are still intact by the end of the day, I'll be there. Luckily it looks like the rain is going to stop later in the evening so it should be a nice run. Especially since we're avoiding the super-muc...

Thanks UltraQueenga! I'm pretty pumped about trail running. I have recently just hit the trails on a more regular basis and have kind of fallin in love with it. I cant stand running on roads anymore. I recently just did a 50 miler and found I really loved the solitude about it - Hoping maybe to do ...

Really fun report to read, Spirit. Very good description of the atmosphere and the people who hang out at these ultras. I hope you are all well and are enjoying the trails so far this season. A few us have spoken about doing another night run like we did last November at Sulphur. Well, look no further. This is it!! The format is the same: - Refuel from your trunk: bring your own junk - Start/finish at the parking lot...
