Re: New Ottawa Area 25k/50k Winter Race

Man, the weather is all over the map. Plan... bring everything. I have never ran in snowshoes but I am borrowing a pair from a friend for tomorrow just in case (luckily she has two pairs 'cause she is racing tomorrow as well). Just hope the roads will be okay.

Re: Insane Urban MTB Video

Got this one sent to me yesterday. This one is from 2011, same course, different rider, different dog almost gets smoked: http://www.explorecompetelive.com/2011/03/03/video-urban-mountain-biking/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I don't think this rider touches their brakes at all (the...

Re: Thursday Torture

1hr 20min on the 'mill at 8%. Another slow run with focus on climbing. A bit of a hot spot on my left pinky toe. The rest of the day will be just relaxing inside. 'j' has a little friend over for the whole day so he will zonked tonight. Will try and find some of my stuff for Saturday's run (Chilly D...

Re: Redlining Wednesday

Chilly Dawg race is starting to look like it might be the Soaking Wet Dawg if the weather holds up, +4 and Rain, Yikes! Yeah, no kidding. Would rather have it cold and dry. Mainly for the feet... For me 40 min the 'mill at 6% incline. Some errands today and hopefully take 'j' climbing later today /...

Re: New Ottawa Area 25k/50k Winter Race

Love the latest posting on TriRudy. Is this to entice runners or scare them? The Chilly Dog Trail Race is a challenging event for experience trail runners. Runners should come prepared with warm clothing, trail running shoes, Yak-Trax, and maybe even a pair of snowshoes just in case. The course con...

Re: First Day of March 2011

A nice day out there and should have ran outside but didn't. Jumped on the treadmill in the garage and ran for 1hr28min @ 9% while watching Transformers. Took it nice and easy on the speed. This afternoon will be spent shoveling the driveway, I suspect.

Have a great day everyone!

Re: New Ottawa Area 25k/50k Winter Race

In all seriousness I am looking at this as a 50km training run with a group of friends. +1. I am used to running / racing in teams of 2 or 4... Looking forward to it - should be fun! Gives me a chance to work on mentally getting my head into a "loop" race and continue with nutrition strat...

Got up early and ran 2hrs on the treadmill in the garage. Put incline at 7% for the whole run. Watched a movie to keep me company. Getting ready to pack the car and head to TO with my family and see my sis.

Re: New Ottawa Area 25k/50k Winter Race

Some one new just signed up for the 50km  , but now my chances of top 3 just got a lot slimmer, what with 4 people registered. Maybe I can still win the Old and Slow category. Be great to finally meet you K.  There is something about Strider in the same sentence as being "s...

A nice light 50min ski before throwing the pack on and running to work (43 min). Legs are a bit tired after yesterday's efforts but no pain. Will sign up for the Chilly Dog today. Today is my Friday (yay!) and next week is my March Break Leave (double yay!).

Have a great day everyone!

A nice sunny run to work. 1st of 3 runs today... We have a 'Skate the Canal' this afternoon and since I am not a skater, I will run instead. After the apres-skate, I will run back to my car. Need to concentrate on fueling and hydration to keep me from crashing. Have a great day everyone! 3 runs don...

Re: New Ottawa Area 25k/50k Winter Race

I am considering one of the lengths as a training run... but my only concern is with the 'footing accessories. I am good for trail shoes but I don't have any Yak / Microspike / etc for traction and not sure I want to fork out the extra $ at this time (could go for a cheap option, I suppose, as long...

Re: Monday Stat Holiday, Yeah Right !!

Legs recovered well from yesterday's LSD which is good. Loaded the pack up pretty full this morning (20lbs) and definitely felt it on the stairs. Cold but the saving grace was the sun was nice. Just under 43min run to work followed by 14 floors of stairs. Will run home this evening as well. Have a g...

3hrs on the treadmill in the garage. Gradually increased the incline on the treadmill from 2 - 10% with the majority at 4% incline (1150m climbing in total). Watched X2 and some of The Last Stand to keep me occupied. Definitely didn't feel like 3hrs. Last night's workout of an hour felt a lot longer...

A flat straight 22.3km run this evening. After reading the tweets and articles and photos from Wenger Patagonian Expedition Race today, I thought the least I could do was get out there for a couple hours knowing that the 7 remaining teams are enduring a lot worse... Glad I did as it helped burn off ...

After three weeks of 11-13 hours of training, I decided to take a bit of a break this and do the bare minimum (2 x 20min runs + 14 floors of stairs per day). Today was no different but I have been able to improve my stair running this week down to 1min26sec. This weekend I may try and get in a coupl...
