Re: "The Barkley Marathons: The Race that Eats its Young"

The focus here is on Boston of course, but this nonsense probably goes on in many other races. It seems people will do anything just to get into a race or claim a time they didn't work for

Re: Future of RM

Good rational points made in your detailed post. It's easy to get into a slump when virtual friends inadvertently turn a forum into a catching up on what you are doing, as opposed to the bullet points below. I don't mean for this post to upset anyone or be contentious. The site is still used by a fe...

Re: scrumhalfgirl in Canadian Running mag :)

Jesse...kudos to you! You are obviously reaping the fruits of your labour (no pun intended) now as you go off to Boston next week. As pointed out in the article, run-commute does taking planning and with 2 kids to cater for, you seem to have done a good job of it. Many people give excuses as to why ...

Re: "The Barkley Marathons: The Race that Eats its Young"

So, it turns out that Robbins didn't miss by 6 secs, but instead by 2 miles The Boston Marathon has checkpoints and you have to show up at all of them or you can be disqualified… That does not mean you are allowed to follow any route you choose between checkpoints. Now, the class with which Gary han...

Nice pic of the Alberta hills with sunrise. I was in Alberta in December for a work meeting, flew into Edmonton and drove over 2hrs to my destination. It was -34 with the windchill.

@ultraslacker...I truly and sincerely appreciate your take on this matter! You hit the nail on the head when you said, "you couldn't fathom where the "creepy" was derived from. It was that and that only that made me thing WTH? I get it that people might claim that they know someone, b...

I couldn't care less where you stand or don't stand. I'm not losing sleep over this, and don't succumb to being part of a pack, not even when I was in high school. More of a leader than a follower  So when a poster eluded to the fact that someone is a "creep", where was the clique at...

Boston 2017..elites are dropping like flies

1. First Kimetto pulls out. 2. now Kenya's former world record holder Patrick Makau "has withdrawn from the race due to an acute injury of the soft tissue surrounding his left knee. While Makau hasn't been in his 2:03:38 PB shape in a long time, he's ran decent the last few years with three con...

I guess your "friends" can't speak for themselves and need you to be their gatekeeper, or you just love being combative and interjecting in other people's business. From your comments below, if you see a stranger being racially / sexually / physically abused / attacked / harassed, you won'...

Re: Future of RM

So when a poster eluded to the fact that someone is a "creep", where was the clique at that time to call this particular poster out on that? But if you don't stand up for people and call them out on bad behaviour, isn't that just letting people get away with it? Our kids are taught in scho...

Potentially Suspicious Runner To Run 836 Miles in 9 Days for "Charity"

The problem is when you have these sort of things no one is game to identify themselves and call them out as scammers because they're doing it for 'charity', at least here on LR that's not an issue. Start to query why there's no proper supervision or strava, etc type recording, missing mats in previ...

Amen to the stuff in BOLD. Speaking as someone who was told to "take it down a notch" by a person that was standing up / playing high school clique for someone else 1, 2, 3. I agree with the sentiment. Leave a disagreement between two people up to them. There is no need for a third person ...

She must train as hard as she runs is the only explanation for it, coupled with perseverance and fighting spirit to boot. Less than a month after another record was set in Prague
