Re: The don'ts of triathlon swimming
That's a neat blog entry but why are they so anti-breathe every 3rd stroke? When I'm working hard (sprinting) or encounter waves or splashy people, I'll breathe every 2nd or to the opposite side of the obstacle but when I'm in a steady groove, I breathe every 3rd naturally. What's wrong with this? ...

There is a large park in Portland with great trails: http://www.forestparkconservancy.org/portland-hiking-trails/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It's right in the city but doesn't feel like it once you're in there (ran the 50k there one time... yes 50k in a park the middle of the ci...

Re: Chlorine issues
I get drier skin from winter in Ottawa (vs. the pool), so I suggest something like Glysomed. It's goopy and gross but it works. As for the dry hair, you can try Triswim shampoo (there are other brands out there). It has additional moisturizers compared to regular shampoo. Some online swim stores sel...

Re: Longer Battery Life
I've been pissed at my 4yo 305 cuz the battery doesn't last long anymore (not 3 hours). I read this thread. Amazon had the 310xt for $213.....um.....sold. The advertised 20 hours or Strider's quote of 12 hours is ok with me. Just don't drop or slam the watch face, or you'll end up with a $160 bill ...

Re: Gatineau Park & Ottawa area trail runs - Add yours!
Bumping this thread up for reference since I'm hoping to get in some more trail running once the snow clears in prep for some of my races this year. Hopefully this'll even be the year that I get to the Gats for a few runs. I'll probably be leaning heavily on the Greenbelt trails between Bruce Pit a...

Nice RR stampie and congrats again on your PB. You had a washroom break in there, seriously?! That's an amazing result given that you stopped. :) Enjoy some rest and recovery and then back at it! I guess my nerves got the better of me. I thought I learned my lesson from the Scotia Half last year. I...

I'll have to borrow it from the library. I wonder if they have an EPUB? I'm quite happy to be one of the gals with a larger build out on the race course. RedRam is on right now!! I just ordered two pieces :) I got hooked on this as my base layer last year but haven't been able to find it local this year (Bush stopped carrying it). I'm so happy!!! They're quite reasonably priced! I don't need any more base layers but that's a good deal at $35 a pop. ...

More than three weeks had passed since I placed my order so this was the news I received when I followed up today. This is pretty normal for Canadian Cartel...
