So there are no hills in my training which I know is important for this race.

Anyways, this may be the year to consider doing this race. It will depend on how well my running schedule goes when my school starts back up next week. I will keep you guys informed as I progress with my training.

I'd say hill training is suggested, but not important, if you want to have a fast run yes get in hill training, but really 3/4 of the course is relatively flat. So unless you are are gunning for it just getting in the mileage is great and will give you a successful race.

If you think about it, there are really only 3 big hils the rest are slopes or bumps if you will - I'm not trying to minimize it. The 3 big challenges are - please jump in and correct me if I'm wrong:

The 3-4 minute climb which begins just past the golf course followed by a steep decline and immediately another 2-3 minute climb starting at Lee ct. then the final big hill is the Valley Inn Hell, I mean Hill which is 480 meters of "suck it up princess" hell!

But really other than those 3 the rest are over before you start really feeling it.

The hills are between km 20 and km 27. If you are chasing a time goal, you may want to reconsider doing the final leg. Of course, the last 10k is the best 10k of the course in terms of scenery, cheering, etc.

If you are contemplating not running up the hill your goal is way too soft.

We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

Hi everyone.

Does anyone know if the 30k run normally sells out? I am really considering doing this run, but I want to be sure my training stays on track before comitting myself to it.

To repeat, I am not committing myself to this run yet. But, in the next 2 weeks I should really have a good idea of where I am at with my time schedules and whether I will be able to get the mileage up quickly enough for it. (I have an 18km run scheduled for tomorrow and a 21km run scheduled for next week).

I really hope everything goes well because this is a race I have always wanted to do.

Thanks.

Mike

There are 2321 registered through Events Online and 2490 registered through the Running Room. They take mail in registrations, too, but at least 4800 are already signed up (less that 1400 spots left). Registration will jump in the next week since fees go up on February 2.

Someone posted both here and on TriRudy that there are less than 1000 spots left now. Best to get on it quickly if you're interested!

Yup... I believe it sold out in January last year, just before the price increase.

Also new this year:
Entries are non-transferable to another person or event. That means that once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not transfer your entry to another participant, another event, or to another year.

Previous years they allowed you to sell your entry... I had to sell mine last year due to an injury.
