Hole in the Head Sunday

Postby ceileigh » Sun Apr 04, 2010 5:39 am

Four years ago today I officially got a hole in the head :D Later that day I did my first marathon. It was either 42.2 shuffling steps or 42.2 metres on a down and back course of the hospital corridor but it sure felt like a marathon to me! At that time I had never done any running and totally believed I could NEVER EVER be a runner. The idea I would be on a board by this name would have made me laugh - if I could have laughed (In those days I could not due to trigeminal neuralgia).

Four years later I am up and at 'em today. My brother is due to arrive in about 20 minutes to go out for his first run ever. Another person who has believed he is no runner I am amazed that he called and asked if he could come and 'try' a run with me. So today will be an easy 1:1 run but who cares. Helping to start someone else off into running is a great way to me to celebrate the anniversary of a surgery that was not suppose to work ... and ended up changing my life.

Happy EAster!

Just some minor core work. Banged my knee off a door by accident yesterday when going outside, it's really swollen and hurts. Atleast it feels better. First real run tomorrow :), 4km on some trails. Just got back from a service at the beach that was put on by my church, it was nice out.

Long ride today; the weather is perfect and I'm looking forward to 2.5 to 3 hours of awesome riding and a T-run after. Happy Easter!

Long run of just over 9K in an hour. Not a great week as I missed one run on the schedule and due to helping someone move (and the soreness that ensued) I didn't get in any strength training (except the lifting boxes and climbing stairs!)

Happy Anniversary, Ceileigh!

I slept in late! 10k easy run later. I think I'll run to my mom's since it's about 8-9k anyway, and I'm going there for dinner. I'd rather run home as it's downhill home (really long uphill there), but I don't think a run after Easter dinner would be a good idea either.

will be heading out for 20-21k in a little over an hour from now - the DH and a couple of his friends are going for his last pre-Boston LSD of 20 miles then too! Easter dinner at friends tonight!

1.5 hrs in the sunshine this morning - it was one of those runs where pace just didn't matter, it was sunny, we were running, there was gossip - life is good.

Off for some pancakes and a walk in the park.

Happy Easter!!!
Next?

Wow, what a glorious morning out there!

I did 12K on my own, the joined up with my 10K clinic for 7K, then topped off another K to make 20K, which is a pretty good recovery week from ATB!

I should be back to some speedwork this week!

Enjoy your Easter everyone!

17K steady effort with Jo-Jo along Corkstown Road and Trans-Canada Trails this morning ... crossed paths with Strider and chatted a bit .... Pretty quiet on the roads and paths this morning, for some reason ... :P

I did my first race yesterday- the Harry's Spring Runoff 5k. My goal was to do it in less than 30 mins, but I was a bit concerned because there would be hills involved. Final time: 28:31. I'm quite satisfied with that! Next up.... Ottawa - April 25 - Minto Run For Reach 10k!

As advertised, a beautiful warm morning for a run. 34k @ 5:30 HR 146. Only complaint I had to stop for a bio 4 times :o . Is this what I have to look forward to as I'm turning 40 this year :!:

Missed the easter egg hunt this morning, I'll have to steal some chocolate...

Happy Easter everyone......another beautiful day for running here.....30km done in 2:47:49......went through the first 21km at a 5:44/km pace...then picked it up the last 9km at a 5:18/km pace.....

Went and saw the Harlem Globetrotters with my family last night.......so neat to see my girls ( 10 and 11) laugh at the same old jokes that I laughed at when I saw the 'Trotters in person probably close to 40 years ago.....they pulled out all the old tricks like the confetti in the bucket, pulling down an opposing players pants to reveal funny underwear, the ball filled with helium and of course the three man weave ending in a alley-oop slam dunk....nice to see that some things don't change.. :)

Happy Easter!!

Happy Anniversary Ceileigh!

Just back from a really quick spin on my bike - 1st of the season. Headed west into the wind - felt the burn for sure!!

Off to a family dinner...... clothes are packed for a canal run on my way home..... though I doubt it will actually happen after a big dinner. Another trail run tomorrow, I think.

Completed 5K with my brother. We did 1:1 run:walk but it was the first time he had EVER run so I am impressed! 5K for a first run ever! The only time he huffed and puffed was the hill!!!!!

Now I am going to take my dogs for about a 3K walk ... or more ... it is just too nice to stay inside and rain is heading our way as of tomorrow.

Love love LOVE this weather!

Happy Easter!!

Happy Anniversary Ceileigh!

Had a lazy morning...just finishing some porridge and then heading out for my long run, leg and back are feeling pretty good right now so hopefully I'll do at least 12k.

Then home to do some work, not going anywhere for dinner so I am going to make a small dinner just for us.
