Sleepy Sunday

Postby RayMan » Sun Nov 14, 2010 8:31 am

No one has started a daily thread? Is that possible?

If so I am heading out for a 35-minute Tempo Run, then brunch in a local greasy spoon.

Have a great day, maniacs!

Yesterday did my first longer run since Marine Corp. Ran 11 miles without any significant hamstring pain, although it was tight after 8-9 miles.
This morning I'm hobbling along, more bite in the you know what area of where it connects.

Sigh, I guess today will be rest and stretching along the re-hab path

I ran 16k or so, got chased by a dog and brought him home afterward. Off to hockey, hoping for some goals today!

I'm off for a hike as soon as my friend gets here. Not sure how long it will be. She's got a trail in mind, and I don't know what it is!

Good of you Lorne! Is it always the same dog? Maybe he just want a running buddy!

I'll be running 3 miles as easy pace. Feeling the long week of tae-box and running in my legs, haven't had a rest day since Monday!

Today is my Saturday since I have Monday off, going to enjoy it to the fullest!

Have a good day everyone.

Had a nice 16K / 1:30:xx run with Beth this morning ... gave her the option of running Fartleks or 1K repeats we ended up running 7x 1K repeats, as we weren't sure how our legs would feel after yesterday's 27K lsd run ... As it turns out, the perimeter around the Scotiabank Place is just a tad over 1K .. so, this turned out perfect, as we each could run at our own paces .... Split times w/recovery for my 1K repeats, were, as follows:

5K - 4:22 - 1st repeat to establish baseline w / 1:48 - recovery
6K - 4:04 w/ 1:25 - recovery
7K - 3:55 w/ 1:35 - recovery
8K - 3:59 w/ 1:56 - recovery
9K - 4:01 w/ 1:29 - recovery
10K - 4:05 w/ 1:25 - recovery
11K - 4:03 w/ 2:18 - recovery (waiting for Beth to complete her interval)

Yoga already done. Run and a spin on the bike trainer later today, but first some housework - the house badly needs it

He's a little Beagle, 2nd time he's come running after me. Less than 1k from my house on a main street, he runs after me. All I hear is a noise behind me and turn to see a dog. My finger comes out and a firm NO! and stops dead in his tracks. Very cute dog, he just wants to play. So I tell him to go home and I continue on and there he is along side me. I stop to talk with him, explaining he needs to go home. Also gave him a little scratch and then walked him back to his house where there is a much larger dog on the porch and no owner in sight. I had to get back home for hockey and I wasn't sure if the other dog was friendly so I left him there and told him to STAY..Rester! Off I go and he run after me to follow. I don't have time for this so I continued home with the dog in pursuit. Told Michelle we had a visitor and to open the garage and that we needed a bowl of water. Drove him back home to a very thankful owner. Told her he's a really nice dog but you really should tie him up...I'm sure we will be running together again!

It makes me angry that people don't give a crap about their dogs and just let them run around like that. It's just a matter of time before something happens to it. :(

20k LSD done this morning. Ran from home to meet up with the RR group enroute (thanks for the tip, Jen!).....another 7k with the RR folks, and 6k run home (thanks for the great run, Sylvie!)

My ankle's rather sore now, I think it was the hills that I've done yesterday and today. No pain during the run though.

Lorne...that was very nice of you to give the dog water and a drive home...lots of people wouldn't do that.
Like Holly stuff like this annoys me......that owner is putting her dog's life at risk :(

8km nice easy run with the RR 10km clinic.
Then one hour offleash romp in the woods to C-Moss
Off to a fund raising event organized by a client this afternoon...I'd rather stay home...but oh well...I'll probably enjoy it once I get there...I've given dh a pass on going...which he appreciated :D

A very nice half marathon done this morning at the Last Chance Half! Perfect weather, excellent course, excellent organization. Not sure of my exact time yet, as I forgot to turn off the garmin at the finish line  but definitely a PB :D . Saw Turd and his kids at the finish line, where my DH and kids were waiting too.

ETA: results are up already! 1:49:17 - over 3 min off my previous PB. I'm very, very happy right now.

Did a 5k hike. It was the hardest hike I've ever been on. Barely path, lots of steep hills. Actually, it's mostly hills with only one of two very short flat sections. I rolled my bad ankle once, and the good one twice. Didn't seem to do much damage. I'm a little sore now - both in the ankle and in the glutes and legs.

awesome Hammie!! congrats!! (I was in the pool at the Y when you were finishing!)

Ian - that's insane - so, what? 77k for JUST THE WEEKEND??!? NUTS!

I had a solid weekend of training - 140k bike on the trainer (so no coasting!) yesterday in 4:43 and then an excellent 7.2k run 45min after. Today, another 8k run in 56min and then a 2200m swim.
Race Hard. Race Happy.

The only dog I met was the little yippy terrier kind that wants to bite your ankles. The owner was standing right there, too! Gave me some incentive to get moving, I'll tell you! Did 5.4 k in 35 minutes. Not my best, but I am definately getting over my "slump" :)
