The Thursday Thread ... How original eh !!! :shifty: :P

Just a 45 minute session at the Club this morning for a resistance workout ... Will likely get out for a run later this afternoon when it is set to be another balmy -4C or so ... Better get it done now before the temp dips into the mid- minus teens on the weekend ... :?

Rest day for me, too. If the weather is like it was this morning, I might walk home from work. I'm teaching all day, so I'll either want the fresh air, or won't want to be on my feet any longer.

Great run with MrBond last night. 7.xK in 45 minutes. My Garmin didn't pick up a signal (user error).

Wuss! :naughty:

Puhleeze, minus-teens is balmy compared to last week. What kind of Ottawa-ian are you?!? =;

Easy recovery run for me, I'm doing it on the treadmill so I can make sure I go SLOW enough, as I seemed to have failed terribly in that regard the last few times. Might as well try that barefoot running to check my cadence too, though I'm wearing socks, as I'd rather NOT flay all the skin off the bottom of my feet.

Hey! Seems to me that *I* actually DID go out last weekend in sub-gazillion......the only time I've wussed out of a planned outside run because of the cold was Sunday when it was -40C. :snooty:

Besides, I'm not staying on the 'mill today because of the weather, but because I need to keep a lid on my pace.....not doing my recovery run at recovery paces has tired me out for my LSD's.

55min of XC skiing before work and then the normal 20min run to work. There was actually people on the trail when I got there this morning - a first. Second day of running up 14 floors. Don't think it was any easier than yesterday but will now be a daily (weekday) thing.

Music Selection: Arcade Fire kept me warm on the ski and then My Chemical Romance on the run.

Have a great day everyone!

Missing my run clinic tonight since Lily-cat is at the vet for dental surgery today and I have to get her after work. Today will either be a full rest day, or strength work at lunch.

We are running tonight 30 or 60 mins, depending on our mood.

We took an extra rest day last night and ended up sleeping from 7PM to 5AM... I feel so energized today!

I've been babysitting some kind of throat infection/cold bug the last couple of days, so I'm going to take another day off running. Next week is the "official" taper week before the Hypo, so I'm just going to call it a longer taper. I'll run easy tomorrow on the tm and try to get a couple of race pace runs in next week if the health allows.

No running for me today--physio ordered. I've got tape on my leg, too. :( (Now at least I look like an athlete!) On the bright side, my leg is feeling better than it has for a couple of weeks!

9.4k run commute done.

I went to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (musical) at Hart House Theatre last night. It was pretty good, exept for the part where the performance started about a half an hour late. I ended up being up way past my bedtime.

My tiny island province has come to a halt; we're being hit with our first big storm of the season. Schools and work are cancelled. Normally a snow day would leave me stressed about missing a run. Not today. For my impending 40th, I got a treadmill (not every girl's dream gift but I'm over the moon).

Today's tempo is done: 4 times 10 minute intervals with 2 minutes rest between sets. I pushed the pace a bit in the final 2 sets because I've been feeling good with my tempos lately. 9 miles in total and just a super run.

I'm back in my PJs for the day. Going to bake, read by the fire, make a new playlist, download some podcasts...think I'll have an afternoon glass of wine to celebrate. I LOVE snow days!
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

Easy 15K in the morning highlighted by:
- a beautiful sunrise
- a car making a left turn on the road beside me, slipping, and turning 270 degrees until it hit a snowbank sideways
- a possible allergic reaction to breakfast
- fresh legs in spite of four runs in the previous two days

I second that- last time I ran in VFFs (on the treadmill, too fast) I was nearly crippled with calf pain for a week afterwards, and have been flirting with PF ever since. And that was after having used VFFs for about 6 months (about 1-2 times/ week)- so go slow and ease into it.

On a related note, I woke up at 5 to go run, took a couple of steps, and went back to bed- decided to give my heels another rest day. Don't want to push my luck.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.
