Just Sunday

Postby SteveF » Sun Jan 30, 2011 6:57 am

Up before the sun (or kids), finishing off my coffee before heading out. 28k to do. Maybe a loop through Quebec and around the Parliament? I really don't want to do 28 in the city. I'll blame Strider for this...

Well, I'm up before the sun too....but not the kids. Why oh why oh why are all 3 LOUD buggers up at 6am?!? Ugh, ruined the best part of Sun early morning for me, an hour of kid-free blissful quiet. Sigh.

Got 25km to do today, up and down the hills of Orleans.....hopefully up and down the PLOWED streets of Orleans!

My last ski class today :( . Excited for 2 hours of skating on the new snow but sad I don't have anymore classes coming up. I am really enjoying it.

LOL. 6:30 kids were still sleeping (which is rare) so I slipped out for an easy 15k. nice day - cold but hardly any wind.

May take the day off today. If I decide to go for a run later I will, otherwise, I won't... If I do, it will be just a short jaunt.

Have a great day everyone!

I get to go do a 50 min run with the 'Run Faster" Sunrun clinic folks. Should be fun, run 20 min w/u, c/d then 30 min of 1 min brisk/2 min recovery.

Hopefully I get to go with the gals at the back, if I have to try and keep up with the speedy boys at the front I will have to have them do loops around me while I stand and cheer.

I suspect as soon as I try running today, I will discover that every muscle in my legs is sore from our long run yesterday. I can work on my inspiring my participants by whining louder than they do.

With La and MrBond. A little chilly running into the wind; interesting that yesterday -5 felt mild and today -7 feels cold. An enjoyable run overall. And my longest so far in 2011. I think I've shown excellent restraint in not trying to run too long too soon. 12K was a good choice for today. I had enough in the tank to push for a fast finish in the last couple of blocks. January 2011 has been an excellent month of running almost every day. It's great to feel like a runner again. Looking forward to February.

25km LSD is in the books. Wow, I think the city has run out of sidewalk plowing budget or something, because 90% of the sidewalks were NOT plowed! Owwwww.

A very tough run, but pace was still decent at 6:43/km considering about 2/3 of the run was on snowy sidewalks. I am pooped, but glad to get my longest LSD ever finished.

4k done, 4:1 7:49

May not seem exciting to some, but I ran PAIN-FREE for the first time since Run for the Toad in the fall! It felt like there was hope that I would one day run without breaks, or maybe run something closer to 7:00.

I will try to hold that thought on Tuesday when the snow is mucking up the clear sidewalks

Gentle 22K from underneath four layers of clothing and a layer of ice (in balmy -25 conditions).

23K @ 6:05 this morning, my ankle is still a bit tender but it feels ok once I'm running.

Not sure what else DW has planned for me today, I know I get to watch one kid play soccer, but other than that....

Rest day for me though I can't really say it is a rest day. Church, home, clean the house, meeting, prepare for work tomorrow and ...

I have to find photos of my torch run for CTV today. I wrote on the CTV olympic memory site and they called this morning and asked me to put what I wrote on camera! So I have to go to Ottawa to be taped! This is for the CTV special on Feb. 13th. Very exciting! I may actually have 15 seconds of fame :D Hey I'll take it! AND my replacement furniture (from the great flood of Sept 30) that was due end of Feb arrived Friday instead. It is being delivered tomorrow after work. I am putting my old living room furniture in the basement teaching studio (actually it is already there) and putting the new stuff in my living room. So part of today is doing a new seal on the wood floor. Busy busy day! But what fun! New furniture and getting ready for TV ... and my nuwool injinji's made it to me this morning! Warmer VFF's from here on! Yippee!!! A good busy rest day!

Really, I had all sorts of plans to run outside today, but between a late night last night, lots of new snow, and -20 (-30 with windchill), I decided that the TM was the way to go this morning. If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with, I guess. 26km done on the TM.

another 70K week in the books next week is a little lighter volume wise...
