Re: Speedy Sunday
Good luck Sylvie!! It's such a beautiful morning for a race.
Going to join the walkers down at the RR for a 6k walk this morning......then maybe a leisurely bike ride with the family after lunch, provided it doesn't start raining. Thought it'd be better to get a brisk walk in for my 'workout' than try to crank my HR up on an outdoor bike ride, which seems difficult to do when dealing with traffic, etc.
Nice thing about not being able to run is that I can drag dh into this exercising thing.

Happy Sunday!
It's sunny and calm here in NB. Great morning for a long run. Unfortunately Mike just left for a week long work trip and I am home with all four kids. All week.
I think I'll shoot for a walk to the park with the little ones later. Hoping to get 3 P90X workouts in the week too.
Have a wickedly awesome day all!

Was supposed to race 10K today, but that isn't happening now. So I'm going to head out and do some light speedwork this morning since I already did my long run for the week.
The rumours are true......

Re: Speedy Sunday
I'm going for my longest run ever today: 18k, in preparation for the Ottawa Half-Marathon on May 29th. I was supposed to do my first half last June, until my knee gave out, then I was supposed to go my first half in February, but my training went off the rails in January.
If the knee holds up (I'm doing my hip stabilizing exercises) ...and the cramps stay away (I'm hydrating more!)...anything is possible, even me finishing 21.1k!

Done. Tried a 'steady state' run (a la McMillan)... 20 minutes warm up, 3.5K at my steady state pace, 20 minute cool down. Just shy of 10K

Good luck racers!!
Sorry to hear about the DNS Andy, I'm glad my half was on Saturday because I was very sick last night and couldn't have done it today.
We finished in 2:29 which I'm happy about considering how I was feeling yesterday morning.
Rest day pour moi.

Re: Speedy Sunday
To me, it finally feels like spring since I was able to get out and ride yesterday - got in 62k in 2:08 with our ride to Bragg Creek and back - complete with a coffee stop and cinnamon bun, date square and nanaimo bar (the dh, mine and the tri-dh!) Riding with the boys helps me push my pace and work harder than I would by myself, so that was a bonus too!
Today - long run with a friend. plan calls for 17k, aiming for 18-19k. Should be good - it's sunny and clear - and a bit crisp, but perfect!

Re: Speedy Sunday
I ran the Run for Reach half-marathon this morning. Since I had 32 km on the schedule I ended getting up earlier and going for an easy run to get in a few km before the half. I ended up with 8.2 km in 47 minutes before the race started.
As for the half-marathon I ended up finishing in 1:36:06. I am pleased with that. It is a new best for me for now. My previous bests in the half were 1:39 in the 2009 army Run and 1:37 in the first half of the Prince Edward County. Had I not run last night or this morning before the half I could have maybe cut a few more minutes off my time but that is for another time. For now I am happy with my time. Racing a half after easy runs of 8-9 km might have been a good thing for my marathon training as I was able to maintain a fairly consistent pace despite the extra mileage.
I plan to post a full report on my blog later.
I ended off my morning with a slow run home, good for another 1.8 km.
Total mileage for today, 31.1 km.

5km on the roads of Montreal in 29:something! Luckily I had Tred Miller with me otherwise I am certain that it might have been a 40min effort on my own
I have no idea on how I should play Montreal21 next week. Drop out to the 5km (which wouldn't be so bad) or stick to my usual train of thought (go for it!).
As of today, I have 106km for the season! This is pretty good for me
