Terri, the wind is apparently out of the east at 11km/hr. We're going SW. I think we'll be OK! :) :)

Shower - check. Brekkie - check. Dressed - check. But... Guppy forgot his running shoes back home. Ack! Any chance that anyone at Sporting Life will sell him a pair of shoes before the race??? Otherwise, he'll be in the cheering section...

Up early but not to run; making pancakes and smoothies for a sweet group of 10 year-old girls who slept over to celebrate my daughter's 10th (wow 10) b-day. They kept me up most of the night with their giggles (loved it)!

I watched most of them play the piano in the local music festival this week. They were all so poised and confident and so at peace with who they were at that moment on the stage. I used to be like that at 10 too and it made me wonder, where does our confidence and belief in ourself go as the years pass? Why do we (or maybe just me) have to work so hard to conjure it up (I'm thinking of race day here but other life-moments too)?

So all you gals (and guys) racing today: remember that 10 year old girl (or boy) and run free and like the wind. You'll all be amazing; you've trained for this and you're ready. I'll be thinking of you. HAVE FUN.
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

I haven't been on her for AGES!! Just too much going on since Christmas but things are calming down now thank goodness.

Good luck to all racers today!

I'll get out for a run but think I'll wait a while and hope that 50km/hr wind dies down.

Have a great day everyone !

Is it that high today? Yuck. I'll wait, too. I was waiting for it to warm up a bit. Rain and 10 sounds better than rain and 4. I think I'll head to Shubie today. At least the wind should be blocked a bit in there. Going to do 18-20k today, after a week of no running! Stupid? Maybe!

Wings on your feet to all racers.

8.1k around the neighbourhood done. The sun was shining, the trail is drying up and I feel great. I'm off to a good start
for May and as a bonus I've lost 3lbs since the beginning of my diet. 12lbs to go.

Hoping to bike after the showers let up.

DS and GF are back from KIngston (school, not prison! ), so hosting a dinner in their honour. My Prime Rib idea was shot down, homemade hamburgers and huge hot dogs won out. :shifty:

Happy race day! Good luck out there and swift feet.

Today is just rest and a a bit of stretching. Yesterday's 11mi turned in to almost 12 then was playing around re-syncing my nike+ (I like my gadgets) and that was another 1+mi's. Between the wind and my pushing a bit hard - I sure felt it after.  :D

Whew. Running downhill isn't easy.

51:08 was my official time
133/974 in age group (13%)
954/6926 of all women (13%)

Not sure I could run a similar time on a less forgiving course...... But I get to give it a shot next week maybe...

Sporting Life 10k
PB - 52:43.
The Running Room on Yonge St opened early, and sold Guppy a pair of shoes in under 5 minutes, so he could run it too. What's more: they fit better than his usual shoes!

Some of the Van hafers should be done or just about done now. Goooo racers!

I, myself, was kind of happy when I woke up at about 7:30, thinking about how early I would have had to be up for the half. :) A friend will be picking me up in about 20 minutes for a trail run. Not sure how long or where, but off we will go.
