I am torn ... the freezing rain has started and is coming down. Do I head out and hope to get in a decent run before the streets / walkways become ice rinks? Do I wait until later and hope the weather improves and the ice melts? or do I give in and lower the hamster wheel into position and go for the tm? I have a feeling it will be hamster wheel this morning  Ah well ... at least I have that option! Local group is doing the first ever resolution run (not RR or brita though) in my city this morning. I didn't sign up (really really boring route). Going to have rough weather for it as the freezing rain is not suppose to clear until noon which is about the time it will all be over! Hope they are wrong and it clears sooner!

Off for a ski with the cutest little skier you ever saw today! I was a proud mom last night when I clipped in his boots to his skis and he took off, no fear, no falling and he started doing star turns on his first try!!! We officially own the smallest pair of x country ski boots you can get. I love it!

very cool Tori!

as for me, I'm up early and will be meeting Maureen to start our run at 6:40am. I believe we have some 7am and 8am starters for our group too - so there'll be loops. Aiming for about 18 to 20k!

So sad that I had to bail on this morning's run with you all, but, with the freezing rain in Kanata, just not too crazy about driving out there, especially on the 417 this morning ... :( :( :(

Perhaps, will head out for a short run later today, once the freezing rain stops and the roads clear up a bit ...

I wish I had a group to run with today! I'll head out for 5-8k sometime later this morning. Plan was to go when I got up, but that was later than I planned and I was too hungry. Now to let food settle.

Planning on about 10km this morning to run my last run of 2011. Looks like it may be a bit of a slippery one from the freezing rain last nite, but I really want to end off 2011 running outside. Happy New Year to All! :D

I gave in and lowered the deck on the treadmill. Had to clean her up and lube the belt before starting so had a nice five minute walking warm up (and a 1 minute pre-warm up really slow with Caleb who managed to have a go on his beloved TM despite his liver issues :D ) then a 45 minute run. Not bad for my first time on the hamster wheel since last winter!

Last run of the year done. 6.5k. I had my garmin on, but it was full, so it didn't record. Oh well. Coughing up a lung now since I ran by an big apartment fire. I did an out and back and passed it at about 1.5k into my run, no fire. Then at 3.5k, there were flames shooting out and firemen breaking windows. I can still see it from my windows and it looks to have spread.

Whew!

27K done! Soooo slow though, due to slush, ice, puddles, snow. Just about a bit of everything!

I'm ready to hibernate for the afternoon though! DH and I are having a quiet night home with Chinese! No big plans this year, which is fine with me.

19 km done in every type of precipitation! Freezing rain, ice pellets (sharp!) and giant snow puffs. It felt like a little elf was throwing snowflakes in our face. The footing was very slow going for the second half of the run - I think we did 9km in 50 minutes and then 10 km in 1:10! Legs were certainly getting a workout today.

Great final run of the year with the gals, about 12km done. And bonus, we discovered a new Terra Breads open in Olympic Village so we were able to finish up with good food in a comfie location instead of our usual somewhat skanky Starbucks.

I haven't posted in the daily thread for awhile, but I need to get back it. Things like this help keep me accountable.

After slacking off in December and only running 6 times in total (yikes! ) I'm back at it since my first race of 2012 is next Sunday. I ran about 8km today, although I had to take lots of walk and stretch breaks due to a lot of IT band pain. I'm going to switch my insoles to my Superfeet so hopefully that will take care of the pain. If not, I'm not sure what the plan of action will be.

I ran down along Dallas Rd. and out to the end of the breakwater today. Despite the cloudy day, I had a clear view of the Olympic Mountains. I was running along, enjoying the view and listening to the waves on the shore thinking to myself "this is why I run!" :D

Will be doing the 10km Resolution Run this evening as my final run of 2011! I think this is so appropriate for me -- celebrating a good year of running in 2011 (despite an injury), and welcoming some great things for 2012 (yes, including Boston!!)...... Wishing everyone a great New Year's Eve!!
2014:
Mar - Around the Bay 30 km - Done
May - Sulphur Spring 100 miler - DNS
Sept - Army HM
Sept/Oct - 50 miler
Oct - Pace Bunny - Toronto Scotia Waterfront
Dec - Reggae Marathon in Jamaica
