I opted for an indoor run this morning as well, instead of meeting the Tuesday night training group for speed work. We don't officially start for two weeks, so I let myself wimp out!

Did the workout on the treadmill instead - 5 x 4 minutes with 2 minute active recovery. Total of 9 km in just under 50 minutes

Sitting here at the Ottawa Airport waiting another couple of hours before boarding my flight to Orlando via Philadelphia ... and, should be arriving in balmy 30F-65F Orlando at around 6:30pm or so ... 8)

Likely to be another rest day today ... Can't remember that last time I took 2 days in a row off, without being sick and/or injured from running ... :?

eta: Hope you don't mind, Jes, but I won't be able to make it tonight for our weekly tempo run, as I will be out of the country ... :shifty:

Tempo Tuesday.

13K in total with 8K@ 5 m/k.. though I did take a brief water/change the TV channel stop.

Kind of glad to back to my routine, but I miss the time I had to do my workouts.

Brrrrrrr....perfect Yukon training weather. 20min warmup, followed by 40min progression run starting at 4:45/km and notching up to 4:15/km, and cool down.. Didn't go quite as planned, breathing was tough at the faster pace and I actually had to stop a couple of times to catch my breath. First few super cold weather runs are a little tough. Like the heat it takes some time to become acclimatized. Ended up with 14.5km in 1:09. That'll do thank you. Still amazed at how much you can sweat at -18, and I didn't have that much clothing on either.

I will run today... just not sure if I will enjoy a freezing 5 km outside or a boring 10 on the TM watching TBL premiere. Stay warm people!

Frigid back-to-work Tuesday

Postby marymac442 » Tue Jan 03, 2012 10:03 am

I think tonight's run will not happen. I hab a cold, I was up for an hour or so last night waiting for drugs to kick in so I could quit sneezing and hacking then I realized I took the non drowsy version and I definitely was.
See how I'm feeling later and what the weather is doing.

Well I am off on a staycation this week with a plan to get into a more focussed track with training.
So...40 minutes of Power Yoga this morning and it will be a 72min spin class tonight
Must admitt I am rather glad today is not a run day for me today as it is pretty darn cold out there...but I will take the brilliant sunshine 8) anyday so will for sure get outside for something this afternoon, even if it is to walk the dogs and to bring treats to ponies.

Rest day today, which is just as well since Toronto is getting its first REALLY COLD day here. And I left the house this morning to find someone had rifled through our car overnight. No damage and they only took some loose change, but still: boo.

I just signed up for the Chilly Half!!! Egad!!! Two great friends have peer pressured me into it as a "10 year anniversary" thing, so how could I say no. So I guess I'm running today! Probably an easy-ish 8K, and definitely inside. I need to go to Crappy Tire, but other than that I plan to hunker down and watch movies/read inside all day. I feel like a chipmunk hibernating in my little den...

I ran yesterday!!

Today : 10 minute run on the TM (not sure distance? Just did a warm up), weights, abs, warm down on the ARC machine.

Running yesterday and today has been brutal on my lungs, but so nice to know that my muscle memory in my legs is still alive. Felt wonderful! Now to retrain my lungs to breath when I run (thank you asthma).

I am happy I moved away from Ottawa. Brrrr.

It is much warmer here in Guelph, but since I can't leave my 5 year old home alone I tried out the treadmill in our new home gym setup with 55" TV and surround sound stereo. WOW!! If I didn't have my son to take care of I would have kept running and running and ....Well I only managed 5K, but I might sneak back on tonight because I am feeling the addiction creep back with this setup. Our last place had a tiny 21" old TV and iPod docking station which paled in comparison.
Squish's 2014 Plan:

Pittsburgh 5K - May 3
Guelph Lake I Sprint Triathlon - June 22
Peterborough Sprint Triathlon - July 6
Iron Girl Canada Triathlon - August 10
Guelph Lake II Sprint Triathlon - Aug 30

Just core/back exercises today. The left ankle I twisted last summer is acting up again--probably did something to it on an icey patch yesterday. :x

One of the guys I run with at lunch was on the fence about going for a run, and I felt bad about not running outside this morning, so I went for a quick 4.5k with him. Freezing heading into the wind but not bad at all otherwise.

Short run on the TM this morning. Way too cold to venture outside! My new ipod is suppose to arrive today so I am working from home and waiting the delivery! Will be nice to have music to run to again!
