QC has talked me into skipping the mile race today in favor of the 6 mile race tomorrow, so looks like a third rest day.

The sound of pouring rain at 5am didn't inspire me to go out. I see a forecast low of 16C. that will be overnight, but it looks like releif. I'll plan for my long run tonight.
Right after the marathon, I'll make start making a dent in my incredibly long to do list ...

A hot and muggy 27K / 2:55:00 lsd run with Jes this morning in and around a lot of Kanata South and trails, which helped to protect us from much of the sun, @25-28C /30C+ humidex, while the light breeze on the second half once we reached the open paths/road also helped to keep us cooler than it would have been otherwise ... Just a bit of r&r before possibly heading to the theatre to rehydrate and refuel coke and popcorn watch Total Recall, perhaps ...

8 miles done in the heat and sun! Did the first half hour with the puppy and then dropped him at home and continued. Felt really tired, and the gentle incline was not working for me so I decided to just run downhill... Ran down to the seawall, appreciated how blue the sky and ocean are today, grabbed a booster juice, and took the bus home. The run itself was a slog but the day is beautiful! Heading now to an outdoor pool to try to rid myself of my runner's tan lines! Lol!

11k done late morning- wasn't great timing as it was smoking hot and humid. Ended up kinda tempo-y though- started nice and relaxed @ about 5:10/km, then dropped the hammer to beat a train at the crossing, and didn't really slow down too much for the next 6K- cruised along at about 4:40. Weighed myself before and after the run- lost 4 lbs of sweat in about 50 mins!
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Had a nice 35k run this morning. Felt good from start to finish and much better than last week's 32k. Maybe being relatively good last night and water fountains along the way had something to do with it.

Jen - great to see you back!!! good job today!
4 km for me as well - we were at the cottage, and it started to rain while I was out, so I was afraid of getting caught in the woods in a storm, so I turned around at 2 km. Of course, by the time I got home, it had totally stopped, and I had time for a rinse-off dip in the lake, before the HUGE storm rolled in. Glad I hadn't gotten caught out in that!

Missed the women's marathon as I left at 5:30 to run/walk to Waterloo to meet some running friends for a 25 km LSD run. Altogether 39 kms for me and I didn't get home until 11:30.

It ended up being about 6.5 km running and 2 km stairs and walking. Everything complained but it was the heat that really sucked it out of me.

No running for me today but I did get out for some mountain biking this afternoon. Oh, how I am really enjoying this sport. No major crashes but did come home with some nice bruises.

Re: Olympic marathon Sunday!
Hmmm...I wonder if the early morning rain mostly missed us? There was some thunder and lightning and rain last night but it seemed relatively dry outside when I got up this morning. We did get some more rain this afternoon. Anyway, this was a lazy-ish day for me (usual Sunday chores will end up getting done tomorrow) until I went out about 6:00 tonight for my 26 km long run. It was still pretty warm at the start, but not humid like earlier in the day, and once the sun dropped it was nice. Nice enough that I considered extending the distance to 29 or 30 km, but my stomach started to cramp at about 21 km so gave up that idea. Fortunately the cramping never turned into actual nausea but it didn't go away, either. This isn't typical for me so not sure what triggered it, or why it went away within about 15 minutes once I stopped running. But I'm glad it did!
