Midsummer Saturday

Just finishing up breakfast, then heading out for a 90(ish) minute long run.

Good luck to all those racing today, wherever that might be.

I'll be doing bike escort for the 5K race at Midsummer Night's Run this evening. :)

Will be heading out in an hour or so for a 30k run and sunstroke. Somehow, everytime we do this route, it's stupid hot. I hope there is a breeze

On a short break at my conference. I was up @ stupid o'clock to get a 10k easy paced run in. I may regret that! Next up here is a session on barefoot/minimalist running! Oh yeah.... Put on by vibram!

Finally a nice day - 16C, no humidity, nice breeze! What a difference. Headed out for 22-23K. Map my run said the route was 24.2 but it is often off. I figured I was safe to get in 22 or 23. Nope. I got to the turn to go home, about 1K from my house, and was just under 18K. So it would have been 19K total! It is truly depressing when your mental game pictured this turn to go home the whole run and now you have to figure out what / where to add to get in the km's! So I kept on going. Ended up with 21.1 for a full half  Not quite my 22 but I was going in circles by then to put in extra milage and had run out of ideas

Got home to a message from one of my contract ED's. She is a last minute person and likes me at her beck and call. I told her I was taking vacation the 1st two weeks of August. She had a crisis in the form of an HRSDC grant to do that week and asked me to wait one week. Ok. Then that grant took 3 weeks to do! So I am down to the last 2 weeks of August and taking them off which she knew. I put the 'out of office' autoreply on their email at 4:00PM yesterday. She got it about 4:01 and panicked. She sent me an email with a list of work I had to have done over THE WEEKEND including updating the website for the board meeting. Then she sent me the board info at 5:30PM. I just ignored it. Todays phone call was a repeat of how I have to get her all that info and I have to be on line for the board meeting which is during my vacation. Not sure what to do. I could get the work done and she will be very grateful but then when she is back from her week off she will just load stuff on me again and expect me to do it. Or I can ignore it as if I truly was away and maybe she will get the message that I do have boundaries too ... think I will leave the house and be away.

I did an easy 8-ish km this morning. Wow, Fallingbrook Rd, the hill I normally run up to get out of the Beach, felt like a blip after running in NS and Quebec!! I wonder how long that will last. I noticed the same burning in my chest that I got last year after our trip, though, even at the easy pace. Welcome back to the city I guess!! It's a bit of a  to realize that even on a non-smoggy day, the air here is pretty bad. :(

26k this morning. That was one of the runs that remind me why I love running - beautiful day, incredible scenery, and I felt like I was just cruising along the whole time.

Ran the local 5k today (Carrotfast in Bradford). Fast field as the Ontario Masters 5k Road race championship event was being held! Ran 24:49 which is a PB and my first sub 25:00 5K! I think I finished 4th in my AG (but was over 1 minute behind the 3rd place winner). My daughter Amelia ran as well and finished in around 36 minutes!

Good luck to everyone running Midsummer Night's Run tonight! Hope the weather gods are kind to you!

A day off today meant I got to finally visit our neighbourhood farmer's market!

Trying to decide if I am going to run today's race as 5 x 3K or 3 x 5K......?

After a very un-inspired (and un-successful) week of running, I am happy to report that I had a good, solid 15(ish)K run in 95(ish) minutes. :)

34k, 21 of it with my sister. Gorgeous day, trails were crowded with people. Now a couple of hours to recover and I have to do a kendo demo at Folkfest, the yearly cultural festival here.

Thanks for the early company, the tag team did well on the take over but it turns out that Jane is just as freaked out by the Lion's Gate bridge as Leanne & Sarah are

Just got back from a 22K run on road & trail through Presqu'ile. Now packing up the van so we can get an early start tomorrow for the Adirondacks for the week.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

I wanted to do a run that had some hills and rollers in it so I started at 22nd St. Station in New West and ran the BC Parkway path to Vancouver. Over the Burrard bridge to Stanley Park up Prospect Hill, over the Lions Gate bridge and finished at Lonsdale Quay for 34k right on the nose. Challenging run but I needed one.
