Nov 28-30 - $15 to Register for 1/2 marathon 5 and 10 km

Postby cbaker1 » Wed Nov 28, 2012 8:22 am

I saw this posted under another post earlier this week and given the HUGE savings over other races, thought it deserved its own thread.

I have never done these races, but just signed up for the 1/2. For $15 from today until Friday, you can sign-up for any of their events!!!

Check it out. Its just north of Guelph, about an hour from the west end of Toronto.

One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day

So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day

In all three distances last year they had 336 participants.
I just checked and they currently have 333 registered.

Great way to raise the profile of a race!

Me too. Ironically, I spotted it in this thread about the Uxbridge and Marden races - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=46181&p=1386221#p1386221

(Selifsh_Solitude and I are the two Uxbridge Run Club members on Running Mania...that I am aware of)

See all there!

I'm in for a quick Half, I haven't gone that distance since 2007, hopefully I can still do it.

Locals/Robbie/Doonst - can we get a course review. I see the out and back, is this on a flat road or a hilly one?

Thanks!

I drove it in the "return" direction on the way to work today...I would describe it as mixed - several rolling areas, several flat spots, probably about 4 steep (not ridiculously long - long enough to burn, but not epic) hills, but it has several of those irritating loooooong inclines that don't count as hills. Overall, I reject the website's description of "mostly flat with a few moderate hills" - there are enough rollers and small hills that I wouldn't use the word "flat" outside of describing certain sections.

Sounds like a good honest course. Thanks

One more thing...they say the race is chip timed - and it is, in the sense that you have a chip - but there's no chip mat at the start, only at the finish so chip time = gun time. In a race this size that shouldn't make a huge difference, but thought everyone should know so you don't dawdle at the start!
