Re: Meh -- Monday
I couldn't handle the idea of the gym before work, so I ran outside instead. It was getting light out already at 6:15, and the birds were singing. I may have to do this a few more times this week before the time changes again.

Morning.
12K @ 5:48 pace on the TM. Kind of a ladder workout. 6.2 - 6.8 mph. Need to start thinking about tapering for ATB. Looking back at my log, the last time I actually 'TAPERED' for ATB was 2010. The last two years have been in marathon training, so only an extra rest day or so. Curious to see how a proper taper will affect my performance. Hopefully it will help, because my training has not been stellar. The miles are there, but not the quality at all.

Re: Meh -- Monday
Meh - not a fan of Mondays either!
More running than usual this weekend. Because I took Tuesday as a rest day, I decided to run on Saturday. It helps that Ed's training program for Ottawa has him running both weekend days. So I tagged along when he went to the gym and did about 7 miles on the TM. Nothing special except that I added a few easy hills. Being sick and tired of winter, I decided Friday that my Sunday long run would be indoors, and when Sunday morning it was -8 C with a windchill of -16, no sun, I had absolutely no temptation to revisit that decision. Frozen face, frozen shoes, frozen water bottle - no thanks. So we went to the Monarch Park track for the first time (since Ed didn't want to run outside either). A nice facility and it's very close to home. Anyway, managed to grind out 32 km (87 laps of the 370 m track). It was a tough slog, but no tougher than it would have been outside. I rarely run three days in a row, and although on its own that might not have been a factor, yesterday by about the 22 km mark the inside of my left thigh was hurting quite a bit again. The acute pain from a few weeks ago had pretty much disappeared prior to yesterday, but it definitely came back, so I need to be careful about too many consecutive days. Part of me was tempted to quit at 22 km, but I eased up on the pace and managed to finish.
Easy gym day today - just 10 minutes on the elliptical to wake up, then some upper body weights and ab/hip/glute work. Belly dance class tonight, which will be a great way to burn off the stress that is undoubtedly waiting for me today at work.
Have a great day, everyone!

Jacqu- Is Ed following a Hanson plan again for Ottawa?
For me- my last swim class is tonight and we'll do another benchmark test of 5 x 100s.
I did more running than I planned to on the weekend as well, so otherwise today will be a rest day. It's so nice out there that I will go for a walk at some point.
I don't love mondays either, but today is not so bad so far.

Re: Meh -- Monday
Today definitely feels like Monday!
Tonight I have my registered spin class. Will get to the gym half an hour before to do some strength work followed by 75mins of spin. I really am liking this biking thing It is helping my running for sure.
My goal this week is to be in bed by 10 every night and lights out at 10:30.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

Re: Meh -- Monday
I had kind of thought I might run yesterday, but I didn't. Instead, I walked about 7km along the ocean, in the warm sunshine, with a good friend and her baby. And then I thought I might run in the evening, but I didn't. Instead, I went to a Portuguese fado concert.
Today, though, I will be taking full advantage of the crazy nice day to run-commute partway home. Should be 11 or 12km, but I won't know until I'm reunited with my computer tomorrow morning.

Re: Meh -- Monday
Unexpectedly out of town over the weekend, so wasn't able to fit my long run in. I did 11.5 km on the hotel TM on Saturday morning and then 19 km today (I'm off). I'd planned to go further, but just didn't have it in me. So, not the 30km run I'd planned on, but it is what it is.

Yes. He had a PB at PEC following their plan, so it appears to work for him. Only 4 minutes and change off the 4 hour mark so my fingers are crossed that he has a 4 minutes and change PB in Ottawa
