Rest day for me today - off to see my 5-year-old try his first ever martial arts belt test.

We're all either driving to Hamilton, or getting ready to drive to Hamilton. I'm patiently waiting for a buddy who's driving down with me. Safe travels all.

And BTW where is spring?

13K planned for today but I'm not hopeful that it will all get done. Both calves continue to give me grief.

75min of hot yoga this morning. Felt good to stretch away the past week's stress.

Safe travels to everyone on the road to hamilton! Locally we have 'around the rae' which is just a fun run around the rae road (known for its big hill and many littler hills). The cold that threatened me last weekend took hold like no cold I've had for years. Ended up at the doctors yesterday on antibiotics for strep. So I am couch sitting and playing on the internet today instead of running. Gives my shoulder a good rest though. The meds are already kicking in but I have a ways to go before this cold goes away. Hoping to get back to running next weekend ... meanwhile I am looking forward to lots of great race reports this weekend and to getting myself back out on the road soon!

Good luck to everyone racing today and tomorrow!

One-hour session at the gym today for me, alternating bike and treadmill.

70-min spin done. My workout didn't go as planned (details in my journal), but at least I got A workout in, even if it wasn't the one I'd planned to do. :?

5 mile race this morning. Hammie is also racing the half but I didn't see her at all. One of those cold (-10) but sunny mornings that makes you icy and hot at the same time and leaves you sweaty with icicles in your hair.

Up and out the door early this a.m.: 1 hr of weights at the AC, and then a 19.5 km run, and then 75 minutes of Yin Yoga -- a perfect way to start a Saturday!!

Rest day .

ATB Expo visit this morning and , of course, Around The Bay 30K tomorrow. Technical long sleeved shirts are pretty good. Not as good as last year but good nonetheless. Women's look like a pinky/orange type colour and men's is dark blue with light blue inserts. Expo was okay but I didn't buy anything.
I did get in a short conversation with John Stanton. I have known him since he visited the Waterloo RR when I worked there several yrs ago. Agree or disagree with his stores and company procedures ( I often don't agree ), I find John himself to be a very nice person. He has certainly done a lot for running in Canada.

Sorry I missed you - I got there just before the start! Good race despite the weather. I didn't wear a garmin and there aren't any results up yet, but I think I was only a few seconds slower than my half PB. Pretty darn happy with that!

just ran 5km in SHORTS in the sun! It was lovely.

Keeping it easy today because the next few days are going to trash me:
Sunday - 23km in Squamish
Monday - snowshoeing at Cypress
Tuesday - night trail run

At least I will get a massage on Tuesday to help ease up my muscles a bit. :)

Have been increasing my mileage, carefully but steadily. Gearing up for spring/summer ultra season. :)

Split my long run today, to run to/from an appointment. About 9 km each way. Sunny and bright both ways. Nice :)

Did 17.5 k in chilly sunshine, I was too whimpy for shorts in 4 - 6 deg C weather.

Swilled some coffee, munched on breakie, then a 3k walk and 45 min paddle (and 45 min standing around and steering)

Long run Saturday! 20K - great pace despite some long hills and inclines. My longest run since May 2012. I'm back at it y'all!
