Rainy Thursday
Rainy Thursday
I have been MIA for a year, but I am back, so I may as well start the daily thread.
Rainy day here in Guelph, with a high of 23! No running for me today, but I do have my Runners Bootcamp this evening, which is an amazing workout.

Re: Rainy Thursday
20K done this morning, with 16K at marathon pace. Tough workout, but great for confidence building.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.
Re: Rainy Thursday
We're getting the rain tomorrow, but today is beautiful and sunny. 4.5k walk to work done. I'll run either at lunch or after work.
Life is short. Stop whining!!- Jwolf
Re: Rainy Thursday
Actually it's a rest day for me. 3 pretty hard workouts in the previous 36 hours has me pooped! Besides I had to get my dog to the groomers this morning, so it was a good time for a rest.
I did bring my stuff in case I decided to run to work tomorrow morning, which I will do unless it is too rainy.

I did an easy 5.5 km along the canal last night in the beautiful sunshine, and an easy 7 in the grey drizzle this morning. Still so nice to be outside without the winter clothes!

Last night was track:
4 x 200
4 x 400
1 x 600
1 x 200
All with 200 meter "rest" in between. Kept pace around 3:50 to 3:55 min/km, except for the last 200, which was at 3:17. **** track, but a nice hard workout for me.
Tonight will be 8k at an easy pace.

AjaxRunner. I know you are doing a RR half clinic, and I just gotta say! I'm impressed with your dedication to it! Wish more of my group was the same

Re: Rainy Thursday
Thanks Purdy!
I know that our group (I run with the Kingsway Village RR) has dwindled quite a bit. Of those left, I don't think many run the Thu and Sat runs, simply because they would have to go and do it by themselves. I enjoy the group environment, and find it motivating, however figure the plan works much better when you do all the runs and try and hit the paces.
Not a big fan of the 2 "hard" runs in a row though. I have this feeling that is more based on financial/scheduling opportunity than sound training theory. However, I do think it is one of the more succesful training plans around to get people to finish a certain distance.
I am running the Army half this fall (and likely Scotia half 4 weeks later) and am following the Hal Higdon intermediary plan, though slightly modified, to get me to the Army half. Will be interesting to see how the two differ in their results.
Sorry, went a little off topic on my "rant"

Beautiful morning for a 20K saunter.
Re: Rainy Thursday
I haven't posted much in a long time, but thought I'd visit again...
I have been working on my strength training with TRX, trying to diversify my workouts, to not lose interest. As well, I have a new friend, Antonia, who's comfortable running 5k, and we're working on extending that out by running together.
I ran 5k on Monday, 6k on Wednesday, and today it'll either be TRX at 5:30 or a 6k run at 6:30. If I'm feeling masochistic, maybe both....?
And SPRING seems to finally be here! Hooray!

Re: Rainy Thursday
Back in Toronto since last evening, and checking into the daily thread to say "Hi!"
I haven't done any running or formal exercise during the last few days, but planning to do something TBD tomorrow morning. Maybe a short easy run, maybe some elliptical followed by some weights and/or stretching. Since yesterday I have been noticing some nasal and sinus congestion, along with "clogged" ears, but I don't know whether it's the beginnings of a cold, aftereffects of flying, or what. For several days prior to the marathon I was taking decongestants, which I normally avoid, and I haven't taken any since. So for all I know, it's just my body getting back to its "normal" status with respect to my mild allergies.
Feels good to be back, in so many ways.

Visit to the doc this evening to find out I have a viral cough. So, no running until it gets better. I celebrated by doing 50 mins easy on the rowing machine. Two steps forward & one step back is still progress, right?.

First real trail run of the year tonight. In the blistering heat, yes I said heat.
next up:
This broken wing will fly again
One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day
So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day
