Scintillating Saturday
Scintillating Saturday
Finished our run just before the falling snow went horizontal. It was unexpected and, thankfully, short-lived. May go to the Jays game this afternoon, though they typically suck against the Yankees.

16k @5:52 pace in the snow, hai,l wind, and sunshine! Weird.

Scintillating Saturday
Have a nasty cold so sadly sidelined from any cardio type activities today. Supposed to be racing tomorrow.....we shall see I guess.

Rest day for me...glad too, it's not very nice out there. Uxbridge Half tomorrow...hoping for better weather (or at least no wind)
Re: Scintillating Saturday
Wow, 21 miles on the treadmill is quite the feat!
Just finished breakfast and will head out for a nice bday run, about 12km. Meeting my sister this afternoon for a pedicure and then my BF is making me a fancy dinner at my place. Have a great day maniacs!!

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

Re: Scintillating Saturday
May finally have turned the corner on this cold (touch wood), though I won't be thinking about running for a few more days at least. Hoping to at least get out for a walk around the block or something.

Re: Scintillating Saturday
18K for me this morning. I parked at Bate Island off of the Champlain Bridge on the Ottawa River and headed north into Gatineau. From there I followed the river down to the MacDonald Cartier Bridge, where I headed south back into Ontario. From there, I headed along Sussex and Wellington until I hit the Ottawa River Parkway and followed it back to Bate Island. I had to add a bit of distance on the return to make the 18K loop, but that was fairly easy to do.
This is a really great loop to run, full of scenery and different terrain. The Quebec side has some gentle rolling terrain and it's right along the Ottawa River for most of the loop. The Ontario side has you running in front of Parliament, the Supreme Court and other great sights. You could also follow the canal down to the river and run along the river on the backside of those landmarks if you chose to. Either way, it's a great run.
Today the weather on the Quebec side was gorgeous, but by the time I hit the Ontario leg, I was running right into a cold stiff wind and I got bombarded with rain and stinging hail for about a half an hour. The weather was just plain wacky, LOL.

Re: Scintillating Saturday
daddyrunner - that's quite the run - impressive!
runjrun - happy birthday!
NMG - sounds like a great run! I think I've run the river path you're talking about on the Quebec side before - it's quite nice! glad to hear it is clear - we were talking about heading there next weekend.
The running gods were smiling down on me this morning! My DH is out of town, and my mother was watching C so I could get in my long run. A running buddy was able to arrange her schedule to come run with me so I had great company, and somehow we lucked into the 1:45 with great weather. A bit windy, but some really sunny patches too. We had thunder and snow while we were getting ready to go, and then it was ice-pelleting within five minutes of finishing. Bizarre! 19 km done.

Thanks, it felt really good after being off with a cold for a few days! Yup, the path is 100% clear with no problems and yes, the weather was simply bizarre out there this morning, LOL
Re: Scintillating Saturday
Easy 16k this morning. A little windy but nothing falling from the sky and a few rays.

Re: Scintillating Saturday
Didn't feel like facing the wind today, and DH was going to the gym to do his run indoors, so I went along and did 14 km on the indoor track at a very easy pace. Looking forward to running outside tomorrow.
