Carrying a gun in a race:
Man reportedly ran marathon with gun, stalked race director.

A finisher of last Sunday's Flying Pig Marathon has been charged with stalking the race director and has been hospitalized for mental evaluation, the Cincinnati TV station WKRC reports.

David Moore reportedly contacted race director Iris Simpson-Bush before the race and complained about his race number and asked about her relationship status, WKRC reports. Police also say he ran the race with a loaded handgun tucked into his waistband, and that after the race he made statements about terrorism and asked to get on the stage where post-race ceremonies were being conducted.

Moore, 49, of Groesbeck, Ohio, finished the marathon in 5:06:41.

Because of the hospital evaluation, the criminal charges against Moore are pending, the station reports.

Its quite common...its a gun culture. Search on any US running forum and see the amount of people who run with guns. This situation of being arrested is uncommon. I'm not judging, its not my country to judge, but don't think because you can't see the gun its not there. I've had so many dinners with people where we get into the gun conversation and someone at the table mentions their concealed permit...always freaks me out, and these are VPs of fortune 3500 companies, educated and financially secure, not gang members...once again I love Canada.

Being a gun owner does not mean that you are uneducated, poor or a criminal. That is an erroneous perception based on misinformation and fear mongering.

As I stand accused of calling all gun owners uneducated, poor or criminals I respectfully ask you to point out where I made that comment? Please read, understand then comment....not the other way around. If you'd taken the time to ask what I meant before making your own assumptions you would see I was making the point that its a gun culture, and not only do criminals carry guns so do VP's.

I think EME was agreeing with you. As do I.

If so I apologise EME...I assumed you took my point as saying the opposite of what I meant...turns out it I was that one. I own guns, hunting rifles handed down from my father or grand father. Its concealed "hand guns" that I see no purpose for, unless your police or military.

It is not so much being uneducated as not understanding risks. The risk of needing a gun to protect yourself or your family, if you are just a normal citizen is very, very low. I don't carry a gun because I don't need to carry a gun. I use the same reasoning for not carrying rattlesnake antidote.

Maybe

On the other hand, I don't like the idea of the government telling me I'm not allowed to have rattlesnake antidote when I go horseback riding in Osooyos just because people are afraid of the sight of antidote or because some kid robbed another kid with antidote in the city.

(True story about Osooyos btw)

You would have to be a certain caliber to be in that corral.
For some, it might mean bringing their PB gun.
In this case, it would be gun time not chip time.

Sorry for my automatic response. I should have taken a single shot. I feel like I am a repeater, but I was afraid of being clipped or hit by a stray comment. I am likely going to take flack. No doubt people will be gunning for me.
