Sunday to run and say Happy Mother's Day

Postby RA. » Sun May 12, 2013 6:51 am

Rainfall warning here. I don't think I want to do my long run that badly, so I may skip it. Two hours in the rain when I'm not yet training for anything seems unnecessary. :-)

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms and mom types out there!

Despite a rainfall warning, it stayed dry long enough for a muggy 24K along next weekend's race route.

I would like to go back to bed but this is only my second Sunday back with the group since the Sun Run clinic ended so I guess I'll drag myself out. It will be a slow 8 - 10 k.

Happy Mother's Day!

I just finished a 15k run. Felt really good! First time in a while I've gone that far.

Celebrated Mothers' Day by getting to sleep in before my run - 20k while DH took DS to swimming. A little rain, a little sun, a LOT of wind, but made it back to my own porch about 30 seconds before the hail started.

My mom is in Madrid today! Haven't spent a mother's day with her since my parents retired, they're always in Europe! The no running thing is starting to get to me... got on the bike but didn't feel the love.

10K trail loop for me and man alive, did it ever feel great! I was reading the trail perfectly. I had a good pace going on the access roads and parts of the trail where I could and when I had to slow down because of the terrain, I still felt very much in control. Everything just came together out there today and each segment of the run just flowed perfectly into each other.

Awesome run today. Yesterday I did 21k of hill repeats in Gatineau. I felt pretty good afterwards, but expected some soreness today. Today I started at the Quary Trail across from the Eagleson Mall, with some fine google mapping I managed to map out a 30k (15k out and back) that ended at the parking long at P11 on HuntClub. I came up 800m short when I hit P11 so I just tacked on some across Huntclub to hit the 15k mark.

A bit windy and cool for May 12, but a beautiful day and a very enjoyable run. Much like NMG it just felt right today.

Last long one before Sulphur...I feel ready and anxious to get started.

I wanted to watch The Players Championship so I ran 26k on the treadmill instead of outside. Longest run to date on the TM so it was mentally hard after the halfway point.

Nice run, Rob!

As for me, no run today. I'm enjoying my recovery (maybe a bit too much). Had lots of fun dancing & acting silly at a friend's 50th (Oh my!) last night and enjoyed a lazy Mother's Day morning. We went to the cottage & swept up flies, had ice cream for lunch & lobster for supper! Fun day - if only I could live like that forever :).

Happy Mother's Day!
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

Did a slow 8k. Farthest I have run in over a year, so I was pretty pleased. Did it at 7:45/km. Didn't push myself. Felt easy and good.
