I'm up and getting ready to head out for the Toronto Women's Half. Sun is rising, day will be cool: it's PR conditions, but we'll see if I'm in PR condition or not. Looking forward to a fun day either way! Good luck to all those racing in Ottawa, and elsewhere.

Ready to go! Coffee and oatmeal consumed, weather looks cool and sunny, but windy. I dreamt that I fell asleep during the race and crossed the finish line late :?

So far all systems are go! Going to try to have some fun!

Off to the races myself - of a different sort. 2nd mountain bike race of the season in the Ontario Cup Series. As a newbie to this sport, I am pretty nervous, especially knowing that near the start is along, steep, twisty single track hill.....
Good luck to all those racing today and to those who started racing yesterday and are still running!

Rainy, wet and high winds here! Watching Ottawa on livestream - winds much less there and no rain :) Hopefully the rain will stop here as Hannah and I are running an agility / equestrian relay race at noon today! I've seen these done at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto but this is the first time there has been one done in our area! Looking forward to a new fun challenge! Good luck to everyone racing! Hope you all have a tailwind!

Good day at the races in our house! Ed has a new marathon PB with 4:03:38.2 and I have my second fastest marathon (and a post-50 PB) with 3:30:26.0. Cloudy and neither too warm nor too cold. And the wind was not as bad as I expected/feared, although there were a few stretches where I was happy to have so many people in front of me to break up the gusts.

It was so nice to see gnu and erinmcd at the end of the race!

Congrats to everyone who raced today - I know of at least one other PB, and there was some awesome pacing. :)

Great to see so many people out there today! Watched Ian, Erin, Canalrunner Mark and Jesse go by in the marathon before heading out to run the half.
So many superb results today, congrats to all. 8)

In 2003, I tackled the Ottawa half as my first 1/2 marathon. 10 years later I ran it again as my 21st half and had a blast. A great day for sure.
Nice seeing folks at lunch too. Safe travels to the out of town guests.

More fun than one should have running 21.1k. :D

My debut as a pace bunny was a fantastic experience! This 2:15 pacer finished in 2:14:48 with dead even splits ! I felt like a rock star all weekend! A detailed report will follow.

Well, I finished up my first half here in Ottawa in 2:20:47. My goal was 2:25 so I'm quite happy with what I accomplished. As my training was nearing its end I was thinking I could break 2:20 and while I was very close, it just wasn't meant to be today. I don't feel like I really left anything out on the course and both my calves were in full on cramp mode after finishing so I think my time was as good as I was capable of today.

The weather was absolutely perfect for running, the course was great, the spectators were awesome and the other runners just kept me motivated throughout the whole race. It was just an awesome experience all around and I'm glad I decided to sign up this year and run it.
