Saturday's slog

Postby ian » Sat Jun 01, 2013 6:23 am

Foggy morning in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, on my way back west. 7K done with 5x30s strides.

Nothing for me, as I'm currently falling victim to a nice chest cold. I'm afraid that between that and the heavy humid air, I'd be getting dragged off the trail after about 15 minutes, LOL.

Gosling, Gosling, Gosling ... err, Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit ... :shifty:

Had a nice and steady 14K lsd with Marg this morning along both sides of the Ottawa River ... a bit hot and humid @24C+, though overcast ... good to be out there again ... :P

5.8 km on a humid but not-too-hot morning here in Toronto. Pleasant. Passed a bunch of guys carrying canoes (one each, canoe-head style) – carrying them at least a couple of kilometres, too.
Marathons: 1; 30k: 2; Half marathons: 6; Shorter: Um, I've lost track

I'm feeling like such a slacker seeing long runs from everyone who raced last weekend.

5 km and change with C and DH - first family run in months!

I haven't run since Sunday, so you aren't the slacker! :)

Really was a slog today. Aimed for 8K and had to walk the last 1K back. It was not that hot but was really humid. Didn't help that I somehow forgot to put my orthotics in my shoes...so ran the whole way with no insoles. I'm blaming that on the G&T's during the soccer scrimmage last night, before we went to the pub.

10km done to shake off the cobwebs and start June on the right foot.

I'm starting a new job on Monday (nay, a whole new career!) so I'm trading in my crazy old work schedule for a regular schedule, and I'm really excited about this... need to get more consistency back in my running... got a 50k to train for afterall! :)

6 laps of Kits pool, the first 3 trying out the borrowed wetsuit (it's a 137.5m salt water outdoor pool. The wetsuit felt weird but I was definitely faster in it (by about 30s per 100). Eventually I'll probably want one that fits me better but this is good for now. :). 1650m total.

It was good (see above) - about 10 seahikers there from various classes. Not everyone brought wetsuits. I hope they do it again. I'm not sure I'd come after running and paddling either. :)

I had a nice easy 8km race in Calgary. The weather was great for running. :)
