Well the rain seems to be following me across the country. Home from Calgary where the rain and flooding is unbelievable. As it is raining here I think about the devastation that water can create. Praying for all of those affected.

Calling for rain, thunderstorms and heat here as well, which is a bummer since our annual street party is today. Got 6k in first thing while the weather was still cooperative (although heating up...).

Bailed on the run this morning as my hip was sore. Dr. Ho is doing his thing with it right now. May be guilted into going down to the Dragonboat races soon to provide spousal support....in the rain.

22k very slowly this morning. Could have easily gone further, but I ran out of time. Nice to beat the rain.

In Coeur d'Alene. Going for a swim around 10am, then a run later on.

Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Easy 10km for me this morning. Nice to finish before the sun got too hot and thankful for some cloud coverage this morning.

With tomorrow's race canceled, there's no need for a rest day today: easy 14K on the ring road.

29k in Gatineau, left Gamelin at 7am, up past McKenzie King Estate around Trail 6 and back. I haven't ran hills since Sulphur and really noticed it today. Even with that I was 9min faster than when I did the exact same run in Nov.

It was humid in the woods, and the mosquitoes feasted when walking any hills...but any day running in Gatineau is a GREAT day.

Haha...ya right, I think you pulled me through most of it that day.

I'm crediting it to the Hokas...I near took out a group of about 10 Chinese tourists bombing down a hill. I was going as hard/fast as my legs could take me and had to yell to them to move else it was going to be like bowling for tourists with me as the ball. When I looked at the garmin it had me at a 2:45/km pace at that point. I was holding on for dear life.

Bittersweet 10k today. Sunshine, new (and very beautiful) route with lots of hills. But I was also only running there because all of my favourite routes are underwater, and got a view over downtown from Crescent Heights. Downtown is eerily deserted, with lots of sirens and helicopters. :( It really pains me to see a place that has been so good to me suffer so much.

:(

I've been watching the photos/videos and listening to Calgary radio since Thursday... it's unbelievable. My cousin's place is underwater (I don't know details though). I can't imagine what it must be like for the people who are displaced.

A bit over 6km today with JoggerBarbie (or at least that's what I mapped... Jacq what did your watch say?) It felt waaaaay longer than that due to the humidity that was like pea soup! We are heading up to Uxbridge to house-sit for some friends for about 10 days- I can't wait to do some running in the forest!

I had the nicest run this morning w/ my 12 year old daughter. We ran from our cottage to our favourite beach. We stopped a few times along the way to enjoy the sights, sounds & smells of the 1st Saturday of summer. We walked the beach, chatting about the year that passed & the year ahead (she's finishing elementary school & heading to junior high - sigh) while looking for sea glass. And then we raced the final mile home, climbing a big hill where she totally outkicked me!!! My little girl is growing up - funny how that happens :). It doesn't seem like too long ago that we were doing the same run, only she was in the jogger and I had to stop frequently to pick up rocks for her collection!

If today's run is a sign of what's to come, I have a feeling it's going to be a great summer :).

Hammie, I've been watching Calgary's disaster on the news. So glad you & your family are ok. Your city is in my thoughts.
We train more joyfully and productively when we focus on the now, rather than on our future race day performance. It's a long road from here to there with many miles to go. We need to run each one. Accept where you are today and simply be thankful for the work you've accomplished. KA

I did around 9K in the March Highlands. It was a great route with lots of ups and downs and not allot of stops because the mosquitos were INTENSE if you gave them the chance
