Hamilton 2013

Postby gnu » Fri Aug 09, 2013 10:22 am

Sorry if there's already a thread for everything 2013 Hamilton Marathon! I couldn't find it if it's out there...

I have a question for the out-of-towners - where do you typically stay for the Hamilton Marathon? I had an acquaintence ask me, but I've never stayed down for it so I don't know what to suggest!

TIA! :D

Hey Karen! I'll be there! I registered yesterday. Are you running too? Or is this just for your acquaintance? Where are they coming from?

Here is a list of accommodations from the marathon web site.

Various price ranges in there.

I believe they have race day pickup, so my plan is to drive in early and not stay over.

Andy and Jes are also doing this I believe. I am not sure where they are staying.

The Holiday Inn Express is your best bet. It's walking distance from the race site - I think that's where maniacs have stayed in the past.

Yep ... within walking distance to the finish line and race expo and bus pickup in the morning to be taken to the start line ... Assuming, that it is not sold out yet ...

If you are driving, then you could really stay anywhere in and around Hamilton, since you would likely want to be driving directly to the Finish Line in the morning, anyways ....

The Comfort Inn is also pretty close to the finish line area ...

Bumping this!

Andy, Jess, Karen, Barbara... you all ready?

Anyone else?

Looks like it will be cool (at least I won't be running a marathon in the heat!), but possibility of showers. So long as they are not too heavy. WInds light to 16mph - meh - not too bad

I'll just be happy to avoid the torrential downpour.

Am I ready? Not for a stellar race. Upright and smiling is the goal. :)

You, on the other hand, are ready. :)

I think I'm ready :shifty:

I'm not looking at the weather because I was okay with the last report I saw - pretending that's what's going to happen until it gets close enough that I actually have to plan clothing!

I'm registered for the 1/2 again this year, but I'm NOT ready. I managed to get up to 18km 3 weeks ago and then came down with a really bad virus, which turned into a chest and ear infection. I'm still on antibiotics, but feeling more human the last few days. I really loved the course last year so I was very excited to run this race again. Oh well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and will look forward to seeing some Maniacs before the race :D

The weather forecast looks terrific...Sunny, low -1, high 4, winds NW15kph.

Of course, that is right on the border line for me between pants vs. capris, vest vs. jacket... :shifty:

What is everyone else wearing?

Thinking 2 layers. My under amour undershirt and. Long sleeve tech, and my 3/4 tights . Gloves for sure. Conditions look very similar to ATB last year! :D
