Super soaker Sunday

Postby RA. » Sun Sep 08, 2013 4:58 am

I'm up early. The rain is coming soon. The bf is gone for his long run, but since I have a sleeping child (niece), I am not. It'll be a rest day for me today, long run tomorrow.

Got up at 6am for the Yorkville 5k. Taking my beet juice. Don't know if it helps for a 5k, but it's first use is in a TT. Plus its good practice. 500ml as you wake up... yuck!

Good luck to those racing today!

5 k of misery for me this morning. It was a foggy 10 degrees here and instead of a tank top I wore a long sleeve shirt and overheated. I should have considered the temp and not the dreary fog. Running in the fog is about as dead boring as a treadmill, except you can’t crank the music because you need to listen for vehicles(there weren’t any). It was supposed to be my easy run but I ended up running the last 1/2 mile as hard as I could just to get the thing over with.

It probably didn’t help that I am due for a rest day.

Weather OK here--12 degrees and cloudy with a bit of rain. Did 5.25k in the neighbourhood. Now for a quick shower and off to nephew's b-day party.

Beautiful beautiful day for the 10+10 today. I haven't been running as much this summer because of a bleeding stomach ulcer thing I've had going on, but sometimes a rest is good. I had a good run. 1:37 for 10 miles, okay for an old duck like me.
This afternoon, hydrate up for hot yoga and then settle in for the Banjo Bowl, always fun even though the Bombers are last in the league

managed 15k but man am i ever slowing down these days - 1:20. guess that's what happens when there are no goals other than putting one foot in front of the other and enjoying things. :D take away the wind and it would have been perfect conditions.

Fantastic 26k - I felt surprisingly energetic, so tackled the super hilly route. Foggy here, so the views weren't as good as they usually are, but came home to freshly baked cinnamon buns! We're going down to watch the Tour of Alberta this afternoon and otherwise settling in for a lazy Sunday.

Sunny Sunday and I got out for a 33 km run. Much better and more energy than last week, except for a few km where we were running straight into the wind and I really felt tired and spent having to push against it with no breaks. It was supposed to be 36 km, but the GI issues I was having in the last couple of km convinced me to cut it a bit short. Fortunately I was very close to home and had that option!

I ran 20 easy km on a super sunny Sunday here in Waterloo. I must be doing something right, because my Garmin kept telling me my heart rate was too low even though I was running faster than last Sunday.

My knees inform me that they would like to be consulted the next time I want to run over 50 km in one weekend.

5k race on the island. Slightly breezy, and I wasn't as well trained as last year, so I came in at 20:58. That was still good enough for 2nd place in my age group and 33rd overall. First in my age group gradually got by me between 3 and 3.5 km and beat me by 19 seconds. Ah well. Not my best day, but not my worst.

8km in St. Albert. But after 4.4 km...i had a huge hamstring injury and had to walk the rest. Feels like a big lump in the back of my leg. It hurt to stretch afterwards. So now... Styrofoam rolling and ice. But the first part of the run was god. :)
