Spectacular Saturday . . .

Postby NMG » Sat Nov 16, 2013 11:05 am

Hey I get to start one!

12 gorgeous kilometers in Ottawa this morning. What a simple BEAUTIFUL morning! Sunny, +8 and a very light breeze at times. Virtually perfect running conditions.

Absolutely beautiful day here in Toronto too (with plenty of beautiful runners out along the waterfront! one of the reasons I love running). I got out for 10.5 km in the crisp sunshine. Still warm enough for shorts.

Getting ready to head out for 10k or so, not quite as warm here but any day without rain is great. Heading to Oakridge for a little multi-tasking run. Exercise - check, early Christmas window shopping - check.

First run in over a week due to some hip issues. 9km in the glorious sun! Probably ran longer than I should have but I couldn't help it. Definitely need to get this hip issue crap looked at.... :(

I ran about 4km this morning. It felt quite a bit smoother than Thursday's run, but it definitely still felt like enough of a workout for today!! I can't believe I used to say I was going out for an "easy 10k", haha!

8K run with the group this morning. Knee and hip weren't too bad after two painful days.

I run because it's my passion, and not just a sport. Every time I walk out the door, I know why I'm going where I'm going and I'm already focused on that special place where I find my peace and solitude. Running, to me, is more than just a physical exercise...it's a consistent reward for victory!

Gorgeous here, too. Walked to and from grocery store, now out to the veggie garden to put down the last layer of compost, then a cozy blanket of dead leaves for its winter nap. Last barbeque tonight, too.

trail run this morning with one of my trail buddies. I was aiming for 5 miles and I got roughly that, though it was hard to say because our gps' gave wildly different distances and it's not a route I usually run. :/ either way, good workout with lots of climbing!

My guess for the rest of 2013 is "none", but I do recall the odd January thaw where the temp went up to about 8 C, so fingers crossed for that! Definitely a gorgeous day to be out there and I ran 25 km. Not sure if it's really bad allergies or the early signs of a cold, but I had to stop approximately 1,000 times to blow my nose. The fatigue during the last week would suggest "cold" but I hope not a major one.

After the run and a snack, DH and I spent about 3 hours outside and I am hoping that was the last major yard work day for this year. Raked and swept up a whole bunch of leaves, pulled some dead stuff out of the garden, and cleaned the eaves troughs on both house and garage. There is more stuff in the garden that needs to come out, but I'm waiting for the below freezing temps that are predicted for this week before I tackle it. Just not quite "done" enough to go easily... :)
