Marathon day is Monday April 20, 2015. This year's 5K was on the preceding Saturday, whereas the previous 5K events were on the preceding Sunday. As far as I know, the exact date for 2015 (i.e., Saturday vs. Sunday) has yet to be confirmed.

The only thing on the BAA FAQ is that registration will likely open in Jan/Feb 2015 ... Not that it helps you much ...  :shifty:

They moved it to Saturday this year because Sunday was Easter, so presumably it will be back to Sunday next year. But it's hard to say because they now have the elite mile and could change the schedule again.

They said that the switch from Sunday to Saturday for this year was due to the marathon weekend also falling on Easter weekend, which doesn't happen next year. My guess is it would go back to Sunday.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.

Thanks all! I've sent the BAA an email to ask. I'm hoping it's on Sunday. The bf plans to run the 5K and I'm hoping to get into the marathon. It would really help for planning purposes if I knew what days I needed the hotel for! I booked today assuming that the 5K will be Sunday. It will be my first Boston so I'm green with this planning stuff

I love that your signature says "first BQ" for ORW because it implies there will be more. And yes, there will be!
