Running in the heat.

Thought I would share this article as the hottest part of the summer approaches:

Things that I have found help:

Hydrating well the night before (not beer or wine :naughty: but cold water) - also helps force you to get up for your early run because you have to pee;
Running as early as possible (while the sun is low and the temps are cooler);
Slow down - I've too often had to cut my long run short due to the heat because I've been foolish enough to try to stick with my usual pace;
Run near a river or body of water. Temps along the Credit River for instance are 3-5 degrees cooler than up at street level. Shaded too.

None of the items mentioned is the be all and end all of tricks for running in the heat but many of them in combination might help you get through the summer. Good luck.
