CK Cycle Fest Saturday!
CK Cycle Fest Saturday!
After months of planning, today is the day! www.ckcyclingfest.com
We are expecting 100 riders, and another 25-30 families to join us today!
I'm excited!
My exercise today will consist of helping set up, directing traffic, BBQ'ing and tearing down...

Up since "ass o'clock" and about to head out the door for the Charlevoix Marathon along the northeastern shore of Lake Michigan. Looks like decent running weather and I had a good taper week, so this one could end up being ambitious.

Have a great time at cyclefest Trix!
I ran 30 mins on Friday! After having the flu for a week and feeling like cr@p, I was finally ok to resume my training. It felt great to get out there. I'll rest today and do a long'ish run tomorrow

And back. The morning unfolded according to plans and now it's beer o'clock.

Re: CK Cycle Fest Saturday!
good grief, ian ran a marathon before I even got out of bed.
I'm up early today to go volunteer for a trail race. Then hopefully will do my own long run... haven't decided what that will look like yet, as there are a couple of options with friends but I might just go it alone today... we'll see how I feel by then!

At least that sounds better than "ian had seven beers before I finished breakfast".
Re: CK Cycle Fest Saturday!
Walking the dog for 30 minutes is a great warmup for a run! Did my 3K loop this morning and felt as strong in km 3 as I did at the start. Attitude had a lot to do with it: I started out feeling relaxed and strong, and was able to stay focused and happy while pushing forward and NOT thinking about pace, but form and rhythm. Really loved having that feeling on a run again. Reminded me of why I love running.

Barrie Half Marathon today! Tough one...
Re: CK Cycle Fest Saturday!
15 lovely kilometres along Harbourfront and west, my longest run in months. Lots of people out for all sorts of reasons, including some event where guys are doing tricks in the air standing on a little board that's rocket propelled into the air by jets of water. I didn't even know there was a thing like that! Apparently it's called flyboard.
Marathons: 1; 30k: 2; Half marathons: 6; Shorter: Um, I've lost track
PBs: Half-marathon: 1:35:32; 5K: 19:54 (both 2012)

25K for me this morning- attacked by mosquitoes, got good and muddy, and worked up a heck of a sweat. Mission accomplished.
Keep on rolling, just a mile to go. Keep on rolling my old buddy, you're moving much too slow.
Re: CK Cycle Fest Saturday!
Did a really nice hour long run on the trail here in Borden. I am seriously going to miss that trail when I go home.

40K on the bike this morning along the bike path into town, and back. Only one heart-stopping moment but I managed to control the skid(s) and stay on the bike before stopping. Now shower, change into my whites and off to play croquet & drink rum & coke, or maybe G & T.
Sounds like a busy day with road races and dragon boats. It's the big DB festival here this w/e as well.

12k in the sun, followed by a water gun battle in the front yard when I got home. Perfect way to cool down after a run!

Re: CK Cycle Fest Saturday!
we ended up doing "only" 8 miles. There was enough elevation that it took us 2.5 hours.
Gorgeous day. We also saw a deer--which isn't unusual in itself but this one was extraordinarily beautiful and not afraid of us at all; she stood there and looked at us for quite some time, and didn't walk away until we did.
