New Shoes Thursday

Postby OLRunner » Thu Sep 18, 2014 11:23 am

22 Km run in a older pair of cushioned shoe, with a padded insole, but my foot is still painful from the neuroma.
So I went and bought a pair of more stability-type shoes this morning, hoping that they will help. I have tried all kinds of inserts in my minimalist shoes and it just isn't helping. Walking at work is bad, also, so I will try them out walking, first.
Good day to all.
Sorry, I guess I shouldn't mention a brand name?

I have been doing these exercises (video below) with good effect for about a year now. I do not have a diagnosed neuroma, but from what I have read about it, my symptoms are similar. Perhaps milder than a full blown neuroma. I do the exercises Mon, Wed and Fridays and the issue is managed. I have run up to 30 km.

Ohh new shoes is always fun.

I think I'm doing an 8k tempo tonight but I'm never really sure. Going to find out soon enough. Probably 13-15k overall. We'll see

A little over 8K for me tonight in what I thought was absolutely gorgeous running weather. It was about +10 with a slight breeze. Perfect!

We ended up changing it as I expected. The LT tempo will be during my "LR" Sunday. I'm apparently running with recovering Olympic elites and sub elites. Not sure what that means.

Today was 17.2 with 6x2min @ 5k pace pickups, 2min rest. This is why I put things like "LR" in brackets. Though I guess when I'm running up to 26kms for a half training, 17 isn't so long.

Ended up being 3.4kms at effort in 12min = 3:31 avg pace including varying terrain. Plus running in the pitch black down the belt line is 90% crazy.

6km run - did track intervals - did 4 x 400 m @2:15 average, 1 min recovery, 2 x 400m @2:17, 1 min recovery, 400m @2:21, 400m @2:50, 2 x 400m @2:20, 400m @2:35. Easy run to and from track (approx 800m each way). I was going to try to do the paces from the prescribed tempo workout from earlier in the week but my legs were too tired to do it. I was pushing the pace for the first 1 mile interval but then my hamstrings started to get sore so I dialed the pace back to ensure I didn't mess myself up for the weekend.
