Sportinglife 10k "Big News"?

Just checked the website to see if registration is open (or even a date set) and saw this:

So, what's this exciting news?

Judging by the photo, my first guess was a route change to a waterfront course, which would make sense to the grumpy people of the city (but not sporting life since it won't pass by two of it's stores along the way).

Any ideas? Maybe a new course further down Yonge to Lakeshore instead of across Richmond? Maybe a new finish area?

Someone's got to know something...

Interesting. I can't imagine they'd give up starting at the Sporting Life store, I'd be surprised if that were it. The drama never ends with this race, does it? :)

I'm expecting something that relates to charity/partnerships.

I like the course. It's been largely the same since I've been running it in 2000. Though we went to the distillery side and finished more central back then = best course.

Does starting at the store really make a difference for such a big race?

Yes, they probably make a fortune in last minute purchases.

Not starting at the store or changing the downhill nature of the course would change the character of the race.

I'd speculate in a similar fashion to fingerboy that the announcement will have something to do with charity, sponsorships or perhaps number of entrants.

To sporting life it sure would! It's like boxing day in there that week, between pickup and race day. I've bought stuff while there, had never been to the store outside of race week.
