Flag Day Sunday

Postby Jwolf » Sun Feb 15, 2015 9:00 am

Race day! I'm up early before the alarm- Rob is coming by at 7 and then we're off to the First Half Half-Marathon. It looks like we should have decent weather by 8:30 but it's very foggy out there now.

Happy racing also to Cheryl and Bryan and any one else racing today!

12K on the TM for me. I was hoping to get outside today, but I'm not putting up with a windchill of -37, LOL.

6 km on the TM. managed to fit in all of this week's mileage despite crazy temperatures and solo parenting, thanks to some some shuffling around, my trusty stroller and my dear treadmill. and netflix - can't forget netflix!

90 minutes on the indoor track. I didn't count laps, but used the TM function on my watch. It gave me 15.3K in 1:31, but I think that's a bit generous.

Gorgeous day for a race but it wasn't my day out there. Just over 2 hours with bad cramping and a huge slowdown at the end. Such is life... It was great to see Bryan and Cheryl and Dawn who all had great races :).

Congrats to all racers! if I were in Vancouver I'd be running outside today. But it's –20˚C here in Toronto, with some wind on top of it, and it makes my teeth hurt just walking outside (my face, too, once the wind picks up). So up to the treadmill! An hour, watching speed skating to cut the boredom. I also gradually increased my pace, mainly out of boredom. Which had the side benefit of increasing my distance by a quarter of a mile too.

What would really put some spring in my step would be stepping out into spring!
Marathons: 1; 30k: 2; Half marathons: 6; Shorter: Um, I've lost track
PBs: Half-marathon: 1:35:32; 5K: 19:54 (both 2012)

Came away with a 15 second PB. I did most of my mileage on the treadmill for this cycle as I've been watching training videos for something I've been studying for. Who knew running on the treadmill was real running. ;)

Power 90, day 4: cardio workout level 1-2, about 40 minutes followed by Ab Ripper 100. Followed by 26.25 miles in 1 hour 46 minutes on the recumbent bike while watching another chunk of Attack of the Clones and tonight's episode of The Walking Dead.
