Just checking the stats above. Our Boston Qualifying times give Lisa a definite advantage, not to mention a weight differential. I am going to play the over-confidence card on her behalf!! :)

Ha ha! Well let's look a little closer. That qualifying time is 18 months old. Our half times actually line up quite nicely! I think our ATB times are close too.

I'll give you the weight thing. I think that may be the one thing I have on 99% of the field. That is more than offset by the teeny weeny little strides of mine. :)

Is it too early to start obsessing on the weather on race day? I don't do well when it is too hot!!

To early - no

I refuse to admit that I have the weather for Boston programmed on my phone app.

Meh! You'd think I'd learned a few lessons from 2012 - like only control the things you can.

Just to keep Lisa informed of factors that may improve my chances for a good run at Boston I will reveal my most recent purchase. I have ordered a hydration vest from MEC. I saw this particular item when Spirit received hers last month for the Seabrook events. She found hers to work very well ( especially after she worked out the "nipple" factor!! ). If it arrives in time for me to test it out on a couple of training runs and I like it, I will use it in Boston. :) .

Ken. Before you pack that away, double check the prohibited items. Camelback's and weighted vests with pockets are not allowed. :(

I did read it. This vest has no camel back or large pockets at all.

This is the item.

My fuel belt ( which I used last year had larger pouches and there wasn't any problem with it.

Strong move casting doubt on the competition's equipment. I'd get a starting corral ruling from the marshals, just to be sure. This shallonge is serious. I guess now is the time for Lisa to let you know about the oxygen tent she has rented. :D

Ha! Ha! The sleep in the 02 tent has been awesome!

Yes... I see Ken is SERIOUS! oh my! Now I'm getting nervous! Wearing a mask and gloves around DH, as he has a cold.

The legs are strong though! And the will is great! It will boil down to a battle of wills... Who wants this the most?

See the one advantage Ken has over me is that he gets to spend his day training! Where as I have to rise at stupid o'clock to do mine, then proceed sit on my duff all day. I'm jealous of that! I note that his efforts have been scaled back in recent days though - clearly he is on a mission! Any moment now I'll be hearing about naps. Then I might be in real trouble.

We need the competitors to divulge their fitness age.

No worries, Lisa. Ken's been eating junk food last week because he had a coupon. (Harvey's). Do you want me to help you out and send him some McDonalds coupons?

HA HA! I forgot about Ken's affinity for junk food. Could that be his weak link?

We could also judge contestants by age equivalent time ( http://www.marathonguide.com/fitnesscal ... valent.cfm ) except they are evenly matched as is.

Fitness level of a 36 year old. VO2 Max 50

( Interesting that a year ago, I had my VO2 Max measured at the University of Waterloo and scored 48.6. )

Now in marathons, I believe that an ideal marathon runner is more likely to be in his/her thirties??

Resting this afternoon. I know that I should have rested this morning as well. However, I am trying to build in a back up excuse in case Lisa actually crosses the finish line ahead of me. :)

If by 'rest' you mean you are pulling out the 'nap' card, I'm doomed!

Must nap this weekend!

I try to have an afternoon nap every day. Today I had a 30 minute nap this morning and am planning for another one in about an hour, after a hot bath!!!
