Ok. I just spent a few moments reviewing this thread. It was fun! I had no idea Ken pulled ahead of me at any point. I totally missed places where we would have crossed paths! I will say I still had quite a bit left after the hills and I was able to not walk at all. My last k was 5:24 according to my garmin.

Words from the Tortoise - Planned pace was 6:00 min/km. I was at the front of Corral 2 but the corrals mixed together somewhat before the start. I may have actually started ahead of Lisa. I did not see Lisa on the course. I was slightly under my 6 minute average pace when I stepped into a puddle that disguised a pothole. My foot twisted a bit and shortly after that my left hamstring started bothering me. I stopped at a medical tent at the top of Heartbreak Hill and the nurse put some lotion on it and I headed out again. I did do a bit more walking to the finish. My new goal was to finish under my 4:25 Official Boston Marathon time of 4:25. My chip time was as reported 4:21:33. Lisa is indeed the winner of the shallonge and a great winner she is! Congratulations, Lisa!! :)

No. She was one if the bombing victims who lost a leg and last year was pushed in a wheelchair, this year she ran the Boston Marathon on her prosthetic. Click on the link. It's a nice story.

Someone had to say it. ;)

In La's defense, she might have been looking on Tapatalk which sometimes shows the photos but not all the quoted text.

It certainly puts my pot hole incident into perspective. I saw a number of people running on artificial legs as well as others with various handicaps. I have so much admiration for each and every one of them. They have so much courage and mental toughness!! Bravo to them all!!

BTW - I have already qualified a number of times for next year's Boston Marathon. I am going to register for the 2016 Boston Marathon. I am stating here and now - I will NOT accept any "shallonge". I am going to a 5 hour time next year and will high five ( or low five the kids ) as many people as I can. I will WALK the entire length of the Wellesley College section of lovely ladies. I will ENJOY" every moment. I am stating this now to appease Mrs. Tortoise who thought ( based on comments made a number of times ) that I was following that plan this year. I did enjoy the contest between Lisa and I and I liked the comments and the people following our progress. Next year they can see how slowly I can run Boston!!

I do want to thank everyone who followed us and/or comments throughout the past few weeks. You people are the best!! :)

You guys are both champions. Thanks for doing the shallonge. It was fun. Ken--I think you lost it on your response to the favourite animal question early on. The rest was just trying to recover.

Not in Tapatalk, but in Spirit's original post, the URL appeared shortened and I didn't click on the link.
