NRR- My cat is missing

Postby Dani » Mon Aug 22, 2005 6:12 am

My cats are not outside cats but last night I noticed one wasn't home. My son must have left the screen door open. She still isn't home.
I hope no one lets her in thinking she's a "stray". And I hope she comes home soon...
I will put out flyers tonight and go door to door in the morning.
I worked at an SPCA for 6 years and I am very aware of what can happen to her out there. I am a little worried.
I used to run. All the time.
Now? Notsomuch.
I'm still a runner, though.
Life is fluid and ever changing. I am too.

Aw muffin

As a fellow cat-lover.. I feel for ya.

Maisy got out a could weeks ago. She, too, is not an outdoor cat. I left a window wide open all day and night with some Pounce treats and water for her. At 3:45am that night, she came purring back in.

Don't worry! You'll get kitty back

Sabrina will make her way home.....

she is exploring her "new found freedom"....she knows where she is loved....she is just taking some time off from the three dogs, and big bird you have....

In your neighborhood, I wouldn't worry....especially where you know most of your neighbors anyway....they will recognize her and bring her home if she ends up on their doorstep....but she is likely just wandering and sniffing...

Naomi didn't come home for three days, a couple of weeks ago, when she came back she was dehydrated, and skinnier....but now she is the weight she should be, and she doesn't go far from home anymore....

but keep me posted anyway....you know cats have a special place in my heart.

Oh, I can imagine how worried you'd be! Princess and Gizmo are indoor cats and they are the most spoiled sucky babies- they'd have no clue what to do outdoors!! My childhood kitty was also an indoor cat, and he went missing once for 2 days- it's amazing how instinctively they find their way back (well, truth be told he was probably hiding under a bush in our woods the whole time!). I bet Sabrina will be back soon. My fingers are crossed for you, and so are my kitties' paws!!!

Oh dear...

Sash and Jas our two Siamese cats are indoor cats...when they do out out in the backyard C-Moss keeps an eye on them.

I can imagine how worried you are...Jas spent a cold November evening out a few years ago...my fault I didn't realized she had made a mad escape...it was C-Moss who alerted me ...she kept barking at the patio door until I walked over...and saw Jas outside...shivering. They both got a special treat.

I am sending "go home" vibes to your cat....please update us...

Dani, has your kitty come home yet? I'm sure he or she is just out having a curious little walk and will come back soon.

Try tying a bunch of dead fish on a rope and dragging them 20 feet behind you on your next run. By about 3 km you should have a bunch of cats following you, yours would probably be in there somewhere. If it doesn't work, at least the neighbors would have something to talk about.

In all seriousness, I hope your cat comes back, I have 2 of my own and I would be worried if one of them went missing. They usually come back though, they are smart animals and when they realize how good they have it at home they usually make their way back. Just like kids.

Missing cat

Postby LILSPARK » Mon Aug 22, 2005 5:36 pm

I really hope your cat makes it back safe and sound. I'm a total animal lover and right now have 2 indoor cats, had a bunny too until recently :(
I know how you must feel, worried and you probably keep checking to see if it came back. You could try leaving the door open a bit and not giving the other cat access to that room and leave food inside the door. Sometimes you will find them in the weirdest places, check everywhere in the house, especially cupboards, closets anywhere it could hide, under a porch, bed, crawl spaces, under the house, parker cars, ect because if it's frightned it's probably scared and hiding, maybe put something by the door with it's scent so it will recognize where it belongs. Don't forget to give us a status update and lots of luck.

In my old neigherbourhood, there was this older lady who would leave a little food for cats on her back porch, she just loved cats so much. She also left her garage door open a little so any cat could get out of the rain.

Don't fear, I am sure the cat will turn up very soon, on a neighbour's porch or in a garage....

Sending good vibes

Yeay! I am so happy that you found your kitty! I have been thinking about you all day hoping that your kitty would be coming back to you.

Give her a little swat for taking off on you then shower her with catnip to celebrate her return!!

Great news, glad to hear it's back, they usually go into some kinda hiding, get her a good tag just in case it happens again. Once free they may want to try it again! :)
