Running Mania According to Grade 7s

Postby Lightning » Wed Sep 21, 2011 3:03 pm

My class of grade 7s will be creating their own websites next week with our super-cool iPads. So this week we brainstormed criteria for a successful website, then used that criteria to evaluate Running Mania against it. The kids used Google Docs to send me their ideas. I have pasted a few below! Thought their answers were great....RM is SO great even 12 year olds like it!

This site absolutely meets our criteria because it is up-to-date, organized, has information (both words and pictures), let's you talk or connect with others and has credible information.

I think the website is very organized and easy to access. It has charts and clearly written subtitles. It's not to confusing and it's very useful to runners because the website Displays information on places to run, running shoes, marathons and more. But the best part about it is the helpful tips they give you on the home page.

It's very organized. Everything is displayed well and there is a ton of information. For example, there are about six sub headings and when you click on one, it shows exactly what you would be looking for. (Forum).

There are many different pictures. There are pictures of races and routes to run so you know exactly what they are talking about.

It displays different running routes in different provinces and even countries. It shows how long the route is too. Example: on the home page it has a link to see the routes. Other runners can add different routes too.

You connect with other runners. You can chat! Maybe you can share a new route or your upcoming race.
Lightning :)

We're going to try this new thing called jogging. Or maybe it's yogging-with a silent "j". Apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild.

The clock is wrong and the search doesn't work! And all the old folks are grumpy.
edit: who fixed the clock? Get them to work on the search function!
next up:

This broken wing will fly again
One fine day
This blackbird's mute gonna sing again
One fine day

So all you sinners come out
And all you drunkards crawl out
Come into the light of one fine day
